Filtered Water Bowls

Ah, you must get rain in Alabama.

We have very low air moisture here so need to drink more to keep hydrated. You get a drier mouth, skin and dry lips and a tendency to nose bleeds at first (less moisture in the mucous membranes), which is most noticeable when you move here from other states. Mind you, we don't sweat as much. So for dogs, which use the air moisture to cool themselves down, it means they have to drink more to compensate. And moving water is generally better oxygenated so more refreshing than still water (think of a glass of water straight from the tap versus one sitting around for a while), which is why so many dogs prefer to drink from a hose or tap.

Do they really have heated bowls there - can't imagine a dog wanting to drink luke warm water, blah.
 
Yep heated for freezing weather. Oh and dry weather cools better because of faster evaporation not that I know any physics :o

We do get rain thougha slow dog might have mold issues :lol:
 
Wow, it never occurred to me to give them filter water to help prevent UTI's! I've switched them to a grain free food because I know the grain can change the pH of the urine, but I never thought about water.

I always figured tap water was fine since they drink out of puddles and lick their butts. :smile2:

I'm lucky enough to have a stone artesian well here at the house for all our water, so it's VERY pure. My previous dogs were brought up on it, and when I was trialling Max and Neechee, I always took a huge couple of containers of home water for them, as Neechee especially was sensitive to changes in water. (Max, the Border Collie farm dog, could drink ANYTHING, but I never took chances when trialling.)

Bela is just glad to get water, period, though I do add Oxyfresh to it for her teeth and breath.
