Finished my studies - another Sheltie?

Toffee enjoyed being an only dog, he couldn't have cared less if I ever brought 'the blue menace' into the house, LOL
But without a doubt I AM having more fun and Spruce, the blue menace would be heartbroken if Toffee wasn't around, when we go out alone together and come home he's so happy to see T again, whereas T is like oh you again?
haha, but he is tolerant like a big brother should be, learns how to share, has company and an assistant to wave herding and other crazy Sheltie stuff, lol

My two are so bonded that when they both go to the vet next month for dentals and one neutering, the one who doesn't need to stay overnight will stay anyway, at no charge, thanks to the perceptive and kind vet, because it will make a very traumatic day somewhat less traumatic for both of them. I can't leave one there alone, and I can't separate them after a day of scary events. I wonder if there will be room in the cage for me...
 
Congratulations on graduation- You didn't mention what your degree was for.

I think it would be great for socialization though I'm sure Perry is beyond that age now, so, now it be mostly a playmate for him, which in turn would take his need for attention away from you.

I think Perry would be a bit like Toffee. Hubby's argument is now "Perry won't like a brother." Which already sounds better than "I don't want to have another dog." :biggrin2: Now it would be great if we could purchase a puppy in August as a teacher I have plenty of time in summer. I'll start to read through all the Sheltie breeder's websites and see what comes out... :wink2:
 
Sca is VERY much attached to me and pretty laid back. In general if Spitfire is not around he is fine. However he does play with him a ton and herds him. As to Spitfire generally abusing Sca by jumping on him and biting him, he just shrugs it off mostly. Once in a while he gets up the back of the couch to hide from him (that is his safe spot around my neck) but usually it starts with him attacking Spitfire. Oh and before you get to much sympathy Sca torments him with toys all the time. Overall I think Sca is much happier. Now Spitfire.... I think he would be lost without Sca as that is his hero despite the leaping on him and other stuff.
 
Its easy, you went to a birthday party or a wedding shower, and the sheltie pup was your prize. That was Lucky

I also sent a card to (DH) stated to the Happy Birthday Fairy, here is what I want. It had a picture inside of a pup. That was Lil' Lady.

Congrats on your graduation, great accomplishment. You should win a prize!
 
Well it did take some convincing that Jester would be happier with someone else to play with. Jester seemed to be afraid of everything you see. It did take him getting used to the new pup but he does seem much happier and less likely to bark at everything. He also seems to be wearing himself out... :). We will call that a bonus.
 
How to convince a husband?

Very simple.



Lie through your teeth. Tell him whatever you think he would want to hear that having two puppies would help with.

Or the tried and true, sex.
I hope I don't get ratted out to the Man Club, but if you were to interject your want right in the middle of that, you should be good to go.
Of course some of the more difficult cases require a certain persistence right after, while the male brain stem is still in a state of cognitive dissonance.

But you didn't hear it from me.

PPS- For the hardest cases, a case of sudden onset night time headaches of from a week to a month is guaranteed to work.:gaah
 
The best way to do it is bring the puppy home. If your husband doesn't pick up the little fur ball and snuggle him/her and his eyes get glazed over, he might need counseling ;).

We started out with one dog after we got married (many years and many dogs ago). One day my wife had a coworker who's Sheltie had an unwanted litter (sire was a Shelti/pom mix) bring the puppies over, i couldn't say no. Almost immediately our household was blessed with companionship. When we weren't snuggling each other, there was always a furry friend looking for a lap.

Keep in mind our first dog was a 90 lb. Siberian husky and the Sheltie/pom only ever got to 15 lbs. I used to walk them together and everyone was amazed how the little girl kept up with the bog boys.

We've been a multiple dog household ever since. We lost our 14 year-old Blue Merle in January and we just got two sable pups.
