Food for allergies

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good/natural dog food that a dog with allergies can tolerate. My little girl has allergies (mainly grass) but will itch all over if I give her chicken, beef, or turkey. She was on the Salmon TOTW but seems to itch afterwards. I have been making her homemade food for a few months now. This consists of veggies and salmon or vension. A friend told me about SOJO's and was wondering if anyone has heard of this brand. She just seems to be getting tired of the same thing everyday. Thanks :)

So my main questions are:
1) Is SOJO's good?
2) Are there any good dry food brands that I could give her?
3) Ideas on another homemade food recipe.
 
Why cook? and why veggies?

Cooked and raw foods are digested differently, so dogs who react to cooked/processed foods may not react to it in the unprocessed form. My Collie and beef is a prime example. Beef kibble? BAD (capital letter kind of bad) Raw beef? No problem.

I highly recommend Lew Olson's book "Raw and Natural Nutrition for Dogs", it's available on Amazon. She has many, many recipes for both cooked and raw foods for a variety of digestion and health issues.
 
I should have metioned that on the homemade food diet that I give her...she does great on!! She loves veggies so that is why it is included.
 
then why feed kibble? My dogs are on raw, veggies and grains included in 1 meal. It is slightly more time consuming but other than that why bother with kibble if your pup does not tolerate it well?
Alos you might want to try Vibrant pets supplement. Does wonders for sensitive stomach
 
If you're looking for a dry kibble, I switched my boy to Wellness Limited ingredients a few years ago, since he was reacting to the California Natural. (still don't know what he reacts to, but he gets a rash :( The Wellness has been fine for him, either in the Duck or Salmon formula.
 
I have vibrant pets but she was itchy on it. Her issue is more of an itchy skin problem than stomach.
I was looking for a different food so she wouldn't have thhe same thing everyda. She will get tired of the same thing! I was just looking for some suggestions.
 
I feed raw, so no good recipes. I do use ground meat and ground some frozen veggies with fruits and some cooked grain like oats or rice for hamburger like patties.
For homemade treats my favorite are Dognation treats, easy and very favorite with many dogs- look under recipe threads.
 
Do you get the New Zealand brand Addiction? They have a range formulated for dogs with allergies. It uses novel meat sources like kangeroo, brushtail and venison, and their canned food has EEL! I suppose the rationale behind this is that because the meats aren't common, chances are your dog won't be allergic to it.
 
My co-worker tried to get me to use SOJO's. Overall, it's a really good brand. But I'm not sure if you know this, but you're supposed to supplement it with raw meat. They call it dog food mix because by itself, it isn't a meal.

On their website, it says, "Simply add meat and water to one of our natural pet food mixes and you've got a fresh, homemade pet food in minutes."

If you're good with that, it's a great way to add veggies and grains w/o having to do it yourself. As with all their treats though, I'm sure its very expensive.
 
I would look into...

ACANA LAMB AND APPLE. I would tell you all about it but in the end your gonna look it up and decide for yourself so ill save my breath. All i can say is if i were you i would definitley look into it. Great all around food. Best allergy food you can buy in my opinon.:smile2:
