Go - Has anyone tried this food?

Go is finally available in my area and I'm considering switching from Wellness Core to it.

I know it's made in Canada and the meats used for the protein sources aren't supposed to have been raised on antibiotics like in the US.

Has anyone used this food and, if so, what's your opinion of it? Is it worth the trouble to switch foods? Price wise the cost is going to be about the same as Wellness.

Great Food!

I love this food! I've been using it for quite a while for my three...different formulas for each. I use the duck, chicken/veggie and the endurance formulas. I've had great results and the dogs love it. Well worth the money!

Thanks, Ann. That lines up with what I remember people on the forums saying about Go in the past.

I'm looking into their "Sensitive Stomach" formula, which is the Salmon and Oatmeal. (According to the rep at the dog show I was at today, they just changed all the labels.)

My Belgian has been on it for quite some time. She is not an easy keeper and this food is one of the highest calorie dense foods around. She loves the taste - even eats right after a thunderstorm, use to take a few days and some metronidazole, and even ate well at the cottage. Her energy levels are not great but she is 11 in July and it might just be due to aging. I wouldn't feed it if you have a dog that gets fat on fresh air though. My old vet who was a canine nutritionist told me that some foods you can cut back on by about 1/3 of the recommended amount without causing nutritional loss but that a few have a very small window and reducing by as little as an 1/8th of the recommended amount can be detrimental to things like tooth enamel, bone density and muscle viability. I have no idea which category this food falls into but my practice is not to reduce any food by more than 1/4 to maintain weight norms. If I have to then I change brands to a less calorie dense food.

Thanks for that information, Tagg. I just looked at the calorie difference between Go and Wellness Simple and there really isn't a huge difference; about 20 kcal/cup difference. We are getting into agility trial season plus, with the warmer weather, more outdoor activity so the 20 extra calories per cup aren't going to equate to a huge problem for us.

I also tend to feed less then the recommended amount on the packages because the dogs do get treats in addition to the food daily; whether it's training treats or just a biscuit because they are good pups.

Thanks gain for reminding me to check out the calories because that does matter.
