good frisbee?

Hi all;

One of our Shelties (Gage) had always been the athlete in our pack and loved to run & catch frisbees. Since we got our new puppy Jack, Gage seems a little depressed & doesn't like to play nearly as much. I think this is because the puppy beats Gage to the ball everytime & Gage; being a naturally submissive type of a dog, just gives up and lets the puppy catch everything.
Gag is a real wiz when it comes to the frisbee though (the puppy hasn't grasped the intricacies (sp?) of frisbee yet). Unfortunately, the depression seems to have sapped his interest in chasing anything at this point (that & the heat!)
Does anyone know of a frisbee that will stand up to a Shelties chewing & yet fly well & truly at the same time? All the ones we've tried do one or the other -not both.
Gage is a VERY sweet & emotionally needy dog -we just want him to regain his happiness.

Ditto on the Flying Squirrel. I also really like Flippy Floppers. You can buy 6-packs of these. My parents have a golden that LOVES to tear apart frisbees. These still fly even if the cloth cover is removed, or in his case, ripped out.

Do you mean a "hurl a squirrel?" (with the rope ring on outside? or a completely different product?) The hurl a squirrels don't fly very well -I'm talking a legitimate frisbee type thing that he can chase & get under as it flies/hovers -he's really good at it -more like a border collie in that way. We need to boost his confidence again & that's the one thing he is still king at in the pack.

the cheap Whammo types for a dollar or so are great -but he chews em & I don't want him ingesting anything bad.

If you go back in threads I have posted on Trapp in his beginning phases of learning to catch a frisbee,I posted a link to a company.
The discs are awesome. It is like night & day tossing one of these.There are differant sizes,weights. And definately not hard on the wallet. It's the only disc we use here.
If you can't find the posts,I will try to.I got the sight originally from MoonShine's dad. (has not posted in a long time.)

I believe the other members are talking about a completely different product. I don't know it to have any kind of rope attached to it. The one I see around here called Flying Squirrel is by ChuckIt, here is the link http://www.chuckit.com/#/product/floatfly. Hope that helps! I've seen them at Petsmart, if you have a store location near you in the states, you can probably try going in stores to check them out before purchasing :)
 
Sandstorm has a flying squirrel, he likes his ball better, but that is him. Try amazon.com- we got ours at a pet supply store, but amazon has everything!
 
If you're looking for a real frisbee, the hardiest that I have found are the Hyperflite Jawz discs.

I tried several different "real" frisbees (including the popular Hero Discs) and this is the only one that didn't get torn to shreds after just several outings. Of course, I allow my dog to tug a bit on it when she catches it and brings it back as a reward. That obviously increases the wear and tear.

Because of her tugging, I tend to use the "Soft Bite Floppy Disc" more often.

Great customer service,the discs are great. I would recommend calling them,and asking about thier blenims discs. They are discs that have a slight paiting boo-boo on them,and cannot sell them full price.

Once you throw one of these you will never buy another .99 cent frisbee again. Even if its occasional play time for both of you,they are well worth the little extra money.

These guys here,do not (are not allowed) to use these as chew toys. Tugging is one thing in teaching to hold it in thier mouth,but down right chewing is not allowed. But they know it here.

We have the hero air 235,and a couple of blems here. (hero extra 235 blems)

Search ZakGeorge on YouTube...he has some great how to vids.His dog is fantastic as well.
