Grace - Overnight peeing accidents

What are you doing in between to support the bladder pH?

My Melli had a horrible infection this past January. It took 21 days of antibiotics THEN I got an acute STAT urine acidifier product called UT Strength STAT for Dogs by VetriScience. After 3 weeks of that I went to every other day NaturVet Cranberry Relief. I also nag her to go "peecookie" whenever we go out (because she gets ONE and I mean ONE piece of kibble as a cookie for peeing).

Of course, over the last month I got lax and we had a night accident. Back to the cran supplement and nagging.

Oh those girls and the urinary infections! My Melli is older and a little overweight too.

Perhaps a bladder support supplement will help prevent recurrence for your girl?
 
I had problems with Emma not peeing and with Natalie peeing in the house during the day. I added diluted orange juice (you can dilute cranberry juice too). This worked. I have only had one accident in the house during the day in the last three weeks. Emma started to pee again within hours of drinking the juice - I added it to her food.

As well, I would consider looking at the food. I find, depending on the food, it has made a difference with mine, even Liam.

Grace returned to the vets last week after her finishing her antibiotics and they took another urine sample direct from her bladder to ensure the infection had cleared. They also took blood tests to check her kidneys were okay.

Vets rang this morning to say blood tests were fine, and the urine culture came back clear of infection but she still has high levels of protein in her urine. We are to take her back next week for more blood tests as they feel it is important to find out what is causing it.

We have her on Wainwrights wet trays with 30% less fat and she is continuing to lose weight which is a good thing, and she is a little more lively when out on walks.

Just waiting for the next stage of tests. I am glad her infection is cleared but anxious that there may yet still be something wrong.
 
Called the vets and have the blood test results. Nurse said they are not too bad.

Her Calcium levels under the regular profile are still a bit high but her Ionised Calcium is normal.
Her blood sugar is a tiny bit above normal
Some Liver values are a bit higher than they should be.

So now waiting for the vet to call me to explain this a little more.
 
Glad to hear Grace's blood test results are not too bad. I hope you are able to get a helpful explanation on them from the vet. I just saw the photos you previously posted... Grace is a gorgeous girl!
 
Grace is going back to the vets on Monday for more blood tests because they now suspect Cushing Disease. Her protein levels in her urine are still high and her liver results are still causing concern. They say it can cause increased appetite and pot belly which Grace has. Although they are not sure if the belly is a symptom of Cushings or just because she is obese.

They have explained this is likely a beneign tumour in her piturary glands. I asked for a prognosis and they seem to thing it can be controlled with drugs or operated on if it's benign. But they don't know for sure it is this because she is so young.

So scared.
