Interesting that both you and Sharon say this. I have never ever noticed anything unusual about my dog's poo when she's given greenies.

My problem with dental chews is they are full of sugar and usually very high in calories. I know they are designed to be abrasive when they chew but it always seemed counter-intuitive to put sugar in a dental product.

My vet recommended using whole carrots. They will "hold" them in their paws like a bone and have to use the back teeth to bite off a piece and that helps to clean the plaque.
 
I have used Greenies since I have had Laddie, he loves them and has had no detrimental reactions. The ingredients seem fine from what I can tell.
 
I occasionally give Shelby Greenies and have never had an issues. She also love carrots so those are often used as treats. Especially wheny niece wants to play "dog trainer" with her.
 
Dickens loves Greenies, and he knows them by name. However, I'm not too sure I like all the starch in them, so I give him only two per week. I use an old cotton sock to clean his molars and premolars, and give him bones to chew, along with a high-protein, low-carb diet. I'm hoping that's going to keep his teeth sound for quite some time.

Me neither - completely normal. I have to try carrots again - my last sheltie loved baby carrots and watermelon.
 
Stupid that I only feed the dogs raw carrots in the summer at the cottage. I never think of it in winter time! Must restart, especially since Bacca doesn't really eat any other treat. A bag of carrots is a whole lot cheaper! (says the Pet Store Owner! Ha!)
