Is it ok to have Luna groomed twice a month for awhile?

The groomer she has had since she was a puppy is retiring at the end of the year and I’d like her to get used to a new person before then. Luna is shy around new people but great once she gets to know them. Suggestions so this won’t be traumatic will be greatly appreciated. FE803EB7-A3C6-4791-8AFD-CEB1ADAE3CB1.jpeg

The new groomer will be in a completely new place. I’ve taken her there to walk around a few times but it won’t be like the old place where she does daycare, is boarded occasionally and was groomed. This place only does grooming.

Groomers in our area are VERY hard to find, Especially ones who know about Shelties and their beautiful coats and I don’t have the ability to groom her myself. Help please!
 
I think that's just fine, and a good idea to acclimate her. Perhaps only have the groomer bathe her on the extra visit with no trimming, or even just brush her thoroughly if she'll do that. It's so tough to lose those people we're used to using! Luna is a beauty!

Thanks! I really like the idea of just brushing or a bath at first and then easing into a full groom as she gets more used to this new routine.
 
Agree with Ann and Gloria, and kudos to you for being thoughtful about getting her used to a new groomer and new place. Just be VERY clear and insistent on what you want and don't want - so many groomers will cut or shave their coats not knowing any better. Luna looks great, what a pretty color she is.
 
You will know you have the right one if they listen to the directions of what you do and don't want done. It is hard to switch but I do agree with the booking the appointment and having something smaller done. You may have to pay for a full appointment but if this is going to be a long term relationship it is worth it for the right groomer.

Our girls go every 4-6 weeks for bath, sanitary trim, nails, and full brush out and trim in few agreed areas. Our groomer has has a really hard time keeping staff since COVID so I keep hoping she can stay open as she's been amazing with the girls.
 
Be really specific on what you want and don't want when you talk with the new groomer. I lost Teddy's long time groomer and the new one pretty much disregarded what I said and he came home shaved. His coat still has not recovered but his third groomer is doing really good with him. I just hope it recovers but he has had 2 coat blows so he still is short.

I don't understand how groomers do this! You don't shave a dog without permission from the owner unless it is an urgent health issue.
Gavin has never been for this very reason (and I'm too cheap). He has a few baths from his boarding, but they don't even really brush him out.
I use the do it yourself washes at petfoodexpress every few months, and a grooming spray for his beauty sessions at home.

Professional grooming would be sooo nice (Gavin would not agree, he hates getting combed even with lots of treats). How much are they charging now? Last I checked it was minimum $60.
