Heartworm preventitive

We have been giving our baby Inteceptor for heart worm prevention which contains only Milbemycin Oxime. As many of you know Inteceptor has been discontinued by the manufacturer. We have been searching the web and asking our traditional and holistic vet for options. Every product seems to have horror stories tied to them. He has a lot of allergies so this further concerns us. Any comments?

Just use good old Heartgard. It's tried and true and we know it works.

I use Trifexis. No issues here. It is rather expensive though.

I'm using Revolution- been around a long time and one of the vets at the clinic uses it for her dogs.

I always stick with Heartguard...the price is reasonable and it has worked well for us.

I use Heartguard Plus for some of my dogs, but Sentinel for my two who have problems with medications and allergies to them.

I used to use Interceptor but switched to Sentinel when it became unavailable. I haven't had any problems using it on my two problem furkids....one who was epileptic and the other who had a bad reaction to flea/tick meds.

I am using Iverhart Max with Riley. He is MDR1 positive so I think I will only give it to him May-October.

I order Interceptor Spectrum from a company in Australia. It's Interceptor with tapeworm preventive added. I've been using it for close to a year with no problems and it must taste good because my dogs gobble it. You just need to allow about three weeks for it to arrive.
