Hello from Alberta

Hi everybody, my names Matt. I live in Spruce Grove, Alberta which is just outside Edmonton. I have a 10 week old tri Sheltie "Maggie", who is a ball of energy and is just go, go, go. I have a few posts on here already from when Maggie had Parvo but never introduced myself. Maggie is actually my mom's dog. We lost our Shehpard cross "Sheba" in June and we were all heart broken and after a couple weeks we decided to get another dog. My mom had a sheltie as a child and thats what she wanted.
I still am at home with my parents but I work away from home. My parents travel alot so when there gone I look after the animals and the house and vice versa. Maggie was a gift to my mom from myself but she's really a family dog. We also have a cat who does not seem to be too fond of Maggie but he's a cat who gets upset about the smallest change in the house and turns out to eat when he's stressed about something.
Looking foreward to learning about how to raise a sheltie puppy and there will be pictures to come.

Hi Matt

You got to love those little pocket rocket shelties. The cat will get used to her. I had a cat that pretended to hate my last Sheltie pup (Benson) and used to swipe him as he went past. But Benson thought it was a game and when he got bigger used to swipe the cat back - then it turned into a game when they would leap out at each other and attack. It was hilarious. On our walks the cat would even follow us..

So glad Maggie is doing well now.
 
Matt, I highly recommend a book called The Art of Raising a Puppy by the Monks of New Skete. We've raised three-going-on-four Shelties by the New Skete method. Everyone remarks on how calm, friendly and non-obnoxious they are (except Bits and her ball, which most people find hilarious). :winkgrin:
 
Welcome to the forum! Yup. Shelties tend to be very active dogs. Some more than others. They can keep you very, very busy! Hope you enjoy it here.

Glad Maggie is doing better. Sorry for the loss of your beloved Sheba.:cry: Loss of any furkid is difficult. RIP Sheba.
What is the cats name? The cat will come along, it's just asserting itself to let Maggie know who was here first. Cats are very independant and will get along fine in due time. Pictures of all the furkids please. Even of Sheba please. I would love to see her .:winkgrin:
 
Matt, welcome to the forum. Sorry about your loss, we are mourning a furball currently too, but we also know there is another one (well two in time) out there somewhere for us. Post pictures of all your furballs, please. Our Cleveland had a cat years ago that he called Dr Jeckyl/Mr Hyde. I think you can figure out why by the name. That cat of his never did reconcile himself to being owned by a dog. (We found it rather amusing) How nice of you to get your mum a dog though.

Pocket Rockets!!! What a great term. That is what Teddy the Terror (5 mo old pup) is at Mom and Dad's. Zero to Sixty in 2.5 seconds flat.
 
Welcome! Glad to hear that your pup is doing better. I can't wait to see pictures. May I ask who you got her from? Both of mine are from the Edmonton area too, but I live in Winnipeg.
