Hi All! I am really jumping the gun signing up to the forum at this point! My puppy hasn't even been born yet! The litter that my pup will be in :fl is due in the first week of October. I am so excited and have been wanting my own dog for the longest time. Anyways I just wanted to sign up at this point to talk to other people who are excited about their pets and also I would be happy to take any advice if anyone wants to give it! This will be my first dog of my own, but I grew up with herding dogs. I am a little nervous but I have been researching for over a year now and am very lucky to have found a good Sheltie breeder not very far from where I live. Feel free to say hi and as noted above all advice welcome. Thanks for reading! :smile2:

It is so hard to be in that waiting mode, the anticipation is incredible isn't it. I think finding a breeder you are comfortable with is most of the battle though. Savannah will turn a year old in a day. I had gotten Kaleigh and I wanted another girl pup, and it seemed that all the litters were males. Finally one came with lads and lasses and I was thrilled. So Kaleigh and I went to check out the possibilities and here comes this sassy little girl, the biggest girl in the litter. Who chose us. Though she has been the most challenging dog I have had, I can say after a year of wondering about the choice :uhoh:, she completes our pack. Without her, our lives would be rather mundane, ha.

I hope you find that perfect addition. Life with shelties is just incredible. They are the sweetest, and funniest creatures. I am amazed continually by their abilities.
 
Thank you both for the welcome! :hugs I will get pictures as soon as possible. October seems very far away, but it is giving me time to prepare. I should be able to take him home around the xmas period. I am lucky that I will be able to bring my dog to work with me also, so I definitely have time to get space prepared there! I cant wait to see the puppies! I have my fingers crossed for a male tri-colour. Got a growing list of names and hopefully there will be one in there to suit him!

Bringing a dog to work isn't really the done thing here either, however I drew up a really comprehensive "Dogs at Work" Policy and my boss looked it over and agreed! I don't know anyone who gets to bring their dog with them to work, so I know I am very lucky!!! Hope it goes well! My game plan is to concentrate on toilet training & "quiet" and after that I think it should go smoothly :fl
