Nice addition to the site! Its nice to be able to connect with other Sheltie parents. We aquired Cinder our 9 yr old sheltie almost 3 yrs ago. He was living in deplorable conditions. We had been looking to adopt a sheltie and just by chance we spotted an ad in the local newspaper. We called the woman who had Cinder and we set a day and time to go meet him. Upon arriving at this womans home, we were invited inside to find cages on top of cages with all different breeds of dogs. Of course that led us to believe that she was running a puppy mill. (I'm talking, she had at least 25-30 dogs inside her home). She took us out to meet Cinder (who at the time had the name of Rambo, not a cute name for such a cute Sheltie). The poor thing was a mess. He was chained to a dog house that was right in the middle of a big patch of mud. Even behind all of his matted dirty fur we saw an angel that made our heats melt the minute we looked into is eyes. There were several other shelties there that I would have loved to have adopted, but we just could take them all in.

We told the lady that we would take Cinder. We went back inside and filled out some paper work. He was free with a contract that we would have him fixed. The lady also took down our phone numbers and address. She told us she needed that information for the AKC to let them know where he would be. I found that rather odd, but maybe thats the way they work. At any rate she also said she would like t stay in touch with us to know how he is doing nd that she would either call or visit from time to time to check on him. That was almost 3 yrs ago. We have not heard from this woman. I just think its so sad that someone could take these animals in and not really care about them. This story has a very happy ending. Cinder has adjusted to being spoiled. He still shys away when you raise your hand to pet him (we think he may have been abused also). He seems to be very content with us. He leads a lifeof luxery with us, and we are so happy that he came into our lives. He has completed our family!

I just wanted to share my story about my precious Cinder the light of my life.

About Cinders

Good Evening ,

I hope you notified the authorities of the deplorable conditions that these dogs are being forced to live in !!! ::cry: Please somebody must also notify Sheltie rescue authorities::confused2: These poor animals did not ask for this. I'm glad Cinders found a Good Mom !! But please call your local humane society and give them the address you went to so they can go rescue these animals PLEASE!!!!

re:Cinders old home

I did notify the animal welfare people after we left that horrible place. They took action but could not tell me what kind:( I know that this woman is still breeding and selling yorkies because she has an active website for sales of these poor animals, so its obvious that nothing was done to stop this woman:mad:

:cry:Sorry didn't mean to upset you . Thanks for correcting me though.:eek2:It is awfully hard to put these puppy Mills out of business.
