Hi there, fellow sheltie lovers,
I am joining this forum to share some of the most and the least precious moments of our life with Ziva, a 13 month old sheltie - keeshond crossbreed. I have a lot of experience with dogs, growing up around hunting dogs like german pointer dogs and Munsterlander spaniels, but also generally spending loads of time around people with many dogs and always helping out. My husband on the other hand has no previous experience with dogs so when the option to get our own first dog came around we spent a whole lot of time researching and just discovering what we wanted to go for in a dog. After months of research we finally decided on a sheltie and soon enough we have had the opportunity to adopt this sweetest little baby girl that we call Ziva after the slavic goddes of life. And boy does she live up to her name!
I must say we are completely in love with our little girl and couldn't possibly be prouder doggy parents. Ziva is the kind of a dog who wants to do everything with us and is afraid of absolutely nothing. She loves riding the bus or the train going on little adventures with us. She loves human attention maybe a little bit too much; when people would pass us on the street and pay no attention to Ziva, she would let out a sigh or a little growl to let them know that she disapproves and is insulted hehe. Last week we decided it was time to teach her how to run next to the bicycle (up till now she would only be allowed to sit in her bicycle basket or in her bicycle carriage) and the little missy was having the time of her life! But she loves nothing more than loads and loads of cuddles with her parents and with her adoptive children, our two kittens. They were born and grew up in our house and as a consequence of their mother not having much interest in them, Ziva kind of took over and helped me nurse the kittens.. They are now 5 months old, healthy as can be and still everyday "drinking milk" from Ziva (she doesn't actually have any milk, they just suckle and cuddle together).
I made a little album with pictures of Ziva from the last 2 weeks, you can look here if you like: https://goo.gl/photos/eeNNoHPKE3WAwGkeA
I am very much interested in all your sheltie stories and will be snuffing around this forum quite a bit!
Have a nice day,
Avon & Ziva
