Hi! My name is Diana. I will be picking up my new sheltie puppy, Percy, on Friday. He will be nine weeks old. He's a sable merle with one brown eye and one blue, so he can't be shown. He's super cute. :)

Percy will be the second sheltie that I've had. My first was a mahogany sable named Sebastian. I got him, when I was 10 years old after my mom had me do a research project on what breed of dog was best for me. I sure am glad she had me do that because neither of us had ever heard of shelties before. Sebastian was the best little dog ever, and I loved him. I was devastated, when he died of kidney failure at just under 9 years old, and I haven't had a pet for 13 years.

I now am ready for a new sheltie in my life, and I think it will be good for my (nearly) eight year old son to learn how to be around animals. He's a little skittish around dogs, and I don't want that to continue into adulthood. He's very excited about the new puppy, and he understands that Percy is a baby. I think it will be good for them to grow up together.

I hope to learn some things and make some sheltie loving friends here. :)

Welcome Diana. Can't wait to hear of the adventures your new puppy and your son share. Shelties are in my opinion the best breed - I have three now.

Post pictures after he comes home. If you are not a premium member you can post using a free photo site like photobucket.

Your absolutely right, now is the best time to teach your son, and then he can teach his friends.

congrats on your pup

Actually, I have some pics that were given to me by his breeder. I have (temporarily) made his album on my Facebook public. Here it is... www.facebook.com/artemis777/photos#!/media/set/?set=a.10150991583919694.441074.793759693&type=3 Percy album
This is my favorite picture... https://www.facebook.com/artemis777...0991583919694.441074.793759693&type=3&theater so sweet. I hope html works in this forum; if not, I'm sorry for the mess. LOL!

Cranberry is very pretty. I really like how the side of his/her(?) face with the blue eye is lighter in color. Even that ear is lighter; it's almost like a line drawn straight down Cranberry's face.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Diana
