HELP!!! Grooming disaster

Boy I'm so lucky

I have the best darn groomer in the world! She is a gem and always did our other Sheltie Samba so beautiful. I can't wait for Pascal to get enough of a coat to need to go to her!! In fact I have been thinking of taking Pascal to her to have his rear-end trimmed up before he gets messy, so far no problems but I know how they can get, ugg.

Oh a funny thing about Kathy the groomer we have, I got her name from a friend of her's and she only charged her $20 so I figured that was a set price and I would always give her 22 or 23, sometimes 25 dollars when I picked Samba up. Well we for some we reason missed a couple of groomings and when I took Samba I asked Kathy if her prices was still the same. She giggled and said well the price has always been $25!!!!! Man I turned beet red!!:o I stuttered, coffed and about choked.......I said why didn't you tell me before?? She laughed.....said she knew why I thought it was only $20, LOL.

From then on I paid her $30 to make up for lost income for her! I appricated her so much!! This time I'll be sure to ask her what her price is!:o

Here is a picture of Samba although it was right before he went for a grooming, he was a beautiful dog and so well behaved we really miss him, enjoy the picture;

What a gorgeous coat he has! And $30 is a steal. I was paying $60 for my forever pup Timber! And they never could get the grooming quite right.

Thanks Barb, yes he was a real beauty and like I said I really appricated Kathy and her price is a steal, I know it!:winkgrin:

Like Chris and Dayna, I do my own grooming. I worked in two different grooming shops, and then self-taught myself on what I didn't know with The Illustrated Guide To Sheltie Grooming and Sheltie Talk books. The only time I ever did a lion cut on a dog was definitely something I didn't want to do, but it was a necessity. This little dog was a 7yr old Pomeranian with full coat that had been dumped in a local shelter. He looked beautiful on the outside, but when you got into that coat, you couldn't even see his skin. He was literally matted all the way to the skin. I had no choice, but to shave him. He looked strange, but his skin was so red and irritated from that matted hair, that it was a good thing for him. I have never understood why anyone would do a lion cut on any dog unless it's absolutely necessary....same goes with shaving them down. To make a long story short, horror stories like these posted are the very reason that I do my own grooming.

In your case, I'm sure your baby will do just fine, though. A lot of times things bother us more than them. :smile2:
