Help, my dogs back legs don't work anymore.

Seamus and liver problems

Hey Barb V.

We had Seamus on Glucosamine for months, seven months and it did not do anything at all for him. He was diagnosed with end stage liver failure, nine months ago and his blood work came back normal initially. He had hepititis to start with but his alt/als levels came back normal which was shocking considering the extent of the disease. His gall bladder is compromised as well.

An xray showed his misshapen liver but did not indicate his diseased gall bladder. It was only after his ultra sound that we found out what was ailing him.

He is currently taking, Ursoidiol, Spironolactone,Amoxicillin,Pepcid, and with Dr. Dodds diet of chicken, fish, sweet and white potatos he is doing oh so well. I also have him on a probiotic from Missing Link called WellBlend and I see a connection with his tiny improvement in mobility and wonder if that is helping? Dr. Dodds mentioned Missing Link products to me.

Great good luck with your 3 year old Barb. Keep us posted.

I appreciate your input, positive thoughts,

Best,
Kate

I found that putting Sadie on a fish oil supplement helped Sadie tremendously. I know you said Seamus is getting fish in his diet but perhaps you might consider a fish oil supplement too.

fish diet

Yes Mellissa, Seamus is getting cod liver oil omega 3 in his probiotic every day plus his favorite "fish juice." Although I don't feed fish every day because of the mercury content. I follow the guide for pregnant women and the AMA daily and weekly amounts allowed.

You are so correct, the cod liver does do amazing good things for him.

Best,
Kate

Check out Canine Degenerative Myelopathy - this is what is happening to my Sophie. Progressive, not curable but can be slow. Sophie won't take walks any more so I am trying the Gingerlead Dog support to help her along. Good luck!
