Herding Instinct Test

Romeo nips at our legs alot, tho' I never figured it may be a herding instinct! I shall pay more attention to this! I would LOVE to have him try herding! But short of leasing a plot of land and buying a flock of sheep he'd have to make do with our ankles. As far as I'm aware, there is no herding anything in Singapore! Such a pity! :(
 
I would love to see how Belle would react around sheep! she is always herding my kids and her soccar ball. when we had a rabbit she would herd her into a corner then give her a light nip on the behind to get her running again :biggrin2:
 
Herding test locations

Hi!

I know this post was started awhile ago, but I thought it was a good place for my question. Does anyone know of any places offering the herding instinct test in South Carolina? I live in Charleston and haven't heard of much down here. Would love to get Bentley tested, seems like he would be a good candidate what with the heel biting and what not!
 
Check out local herding breed clubs. It doesn't have to be Sheltie-specific. My guys were both instinct tested through the Australian Cattle Dog Club of Canada. They do all breed testing, so will take any breed or mix. Local breed clubs would probably be a good place to start looking, if they don't do it themselves, they might know someone who does.

I wonder if they have something like that in Canada near where I live...Caliber is pretty funny to watch...we have three cats, and he does a pretty good job with them! lol Them when let outside with me, he's sure to keep me in the yard with his Sheltie Circles, and nipping! And it doesn't help that he's discovered the full scale and benefits of barking...it isn't good when you take him out one last time before bed and he starts barking at sometimes as late as 12am :o

The Australian Cattle Dog Club of Canada is a nation-wide organization. Check it out and see if there are any members in your area that are qualified to do instinct tests.
