Welcome to the forum DeeDee. You are doing a good thing in adopting rescue shelties. I never planned to adopt a rescue, but in the course of searching for a male sheltie puppy (who in time became our third dog, Figaro) I came across a little sheltie dog in dire trouble. Sooooooo....we ended up having four dogs instead of the three planned because I couldn't leave Sasha where she was. She was 12 lbs, filthy, covered in ticks, shaking and cowering, her face was raw, and she couldn't stand straight because her claws had grown into her pads.

People who mistreat animals deserve something vile....I'd love the "eye for an eye" type justice in those situations.

Other shelties end up in rescues because the dog isn't compatible with the new boyfriend, the new apartment, the new baby, or the owner has a sudden downswing in their health. These dogs are in good condition but their hearts are broken and they don't understand why their owner is leaving them.

So, I am glad to see that there are rescue angels like you out there. We have several wonderful folks like you in this forum; quietly making a difference in the world one pup at a time.

Welcome. Thank you for rescuing your babies. I have one sheltie that is a rescue, his name is Aonghus (Angus) and we got him from our local animal shelter. He was tiny (about 6 weeks old) and so covered in feces that you could not tell what color he was and he had bronchitis. He was picked up as a stray running loose a week before I got him. He was in the shelter a full week and no one inquired about him. How could someone lose a 5 week old puppy and not even look for him or care what happened? Some people shouldn't be allowed to have a dog! But I'm sure glad that I got him. He's my baby and I adore him.

Welcome to the group! Your babies are very lucky to have you. In the last 2 years I adopted three girls from homes that could no longer keep them. Sadly in Jan. we lost one of our girls way to early despite all of the care that we had given her. Adopting is a great thing to do! You have given your two a great new lease on life!! I can't wait to see pictures of your babies!
