Hi everyone! I am so thrilled to find a moderately active Sheltie forum!

My name is Jessi and I live in Mid Mo with 2 Shelties, 2 GSDs and a BC (along with 3 daughters and a husband). I work nights at the local hospital in the ER doing registration and insurance but during the day I am a mom and dog trainer.

About my dogs:
Jinx is a tri 4 yr old male. He recently got his RN and CD and we are showing for his first attempt at Open next weekend! :eek2: lol I dabble in Agility, Tracking and Rally and recently purchased some ducks to try our hand at herding (the ducks are just a month old so no running them around yet lol). He is also the dog in my profile picture (during a show, waiting for me to call him during the recall exercise).

Sassy is a 1 yr old blue merle. I have just started working with her in obedience (boy she is smart as a whip!). I see great things in her future (agility, herding, tracking, obedience, rally)!

My GSDs are Moxie (a 3 yr old black long coat) who just got her RN and has 1 RA leg and 2 CD legs. She'll be showing next weekend also to hopefully finish up her CD and get leg #2 on her RA. Malfoy is a white GSD rescued from the pound so not sure on his age but we guess about 5 or 6 years old. He's "just" a pet and demo dog. I don't compete with him :smile2: Breaca is my border collie and she is about 13 (another pound rescue) and is demo dog for some classes and another "just a pet" :)

I belong to a few GSD boards and I don't know why I waited so long to join a sheltie board! There seems to be a lot of information that I have been questioning about shelties in general and I am soaking it in (with regards to grooming especially!). I hope I have a lot to offer in return regarding training and showing :)

I look forward to becoming and active member here! :) Thanks!
Jessi

Hi Jessi!

Thanks for such a great introduction. Welcome to the Sheltie Nation Forum! I hope that you find this to be a great place to hang out and get lots of information on Shelties. The knowledge on this forum is awesome!

Again, welcome.
Danielle

Welcome! What a clan you have!

We would love to see pictures of all of your dogs. Feel free to share!

Hi Jessi and welcome

I was interested that you live in mid Missouri as my son lives in Cape Girardeau and he has a border collie who is his constant companion and best friend. He loves shelties too, since I have had shelties for over 30 years. Hope the recent tornados did not affect you in your town.

Welcome to Sheltie Nation's Forums!
Your household does indeed sound super busy! May I also say I LOVE the names of your dog, I mean Malfoy for a white GSD is perfect!

Toffee is 3, my first Sheltie but won't be my last. I am very interested in dog behaviour and now a huge proponent of R+ training. I overcame a background of compulsion training with some Schutzhund with my GSD years ago, and real bad instructors who followed the ole yank and chain methods.

We all have come such a long way in dog training and now I literally want to puke each time I hear a person say 'be the pack leader' or 'your dog is dominating you'. We have spirited but respectful debates on here and I am looking forward to all of your input as well!

Thank you everyone for the wonderful welcome :)

Corbin, Thank you! As soon as I am allowed/figure out how, I'll post some pictures of the rest of the group :)

Lois, Cape is about 4 hours from me and thankfully the recent tornadoes missed us.

Toffee, Thank you! Quite the Harry Potter fans here and Malfoy really seemed to fit him at the time lol but really he is the sweetest :biggrin2: I know! I dabble in SchH but the club is 100 miles away and with gas prices, well that is out for a while. I consider myself to be a balanced trainer. I use luring and clickers and food but I also teach and use corrections. I will look at the obed part and discussions after I get home from classes tonight

Sheep, LOL The BC is definitely the queen but the youngest, Sassy, is living up to her name and I forsee her taking over rather than Moxie lol.

Thanks everyone :) I can't wait to talk to you all more tonight or tomorrow morning :)
