Hello Sheltie lovers' community!

I live with my parents in Northern Virginia and have recently got an 8 week old male sable pup named Theo. HE IS ADORABLE...pics to come! (He is 10 weeks now)

We have never had a pet before, so we are finding a puppy to be very challenging.

I have some questions about his behavior and I read that you are all very helpful people! THANK YOU for being here! :smile2:

Hello! I'm in Northern VA, too. We have four Shelties -- looking forward to getting to know you:)

Welcome to SN! Very excited to see the upcoming pix of Theo. Like you, I love sables. I've had one or two myself... or was it seven?! There's a saying around here; Shelties are like potato chips, you can't have just one!:wink2:

There are a lot of experts here who are VERY intelligent, especially when it comes to shelties, and would love to help you with any questions you may have. :hugs

Welcome to the forum! I'm just around the beltway :smile2:

There are so many great, experienced sheep (people) on this site. I have learned so much in the last 2 years.

Puppyhood is wonderful and challenging (I've done 2 in 2 years) and thoroughly worth every second (my mantra was "he will grow up" Bonus - "I won't have to pay for college").

They do grow up quickly and that naughty little ball of fur is suddenly your most loving companion and you can not even imagine your life without them!

So, enjoy puppyhood, take full advantage of the outstanding resources at Sheltie nation, and most importantly ... post some pictures Theo!

Wishing you many years of happiness and fun with Theo!

Kimberly

Welcome from a Yankee! :wink2:

Starting off with a Sheltie pup is like learning to drive in a Porsche. Better buckle up, you're in for a fun ride. :smile2:

Just remember that Theo is just a baby and doesn't understand much and can't hold it for more than a few minutes. And, his teeth hurt (hence all the chewing). All the patience you invest in him now will be returned in love and devotion for many years to come.

Hi from VA

Hello SableLove and Theo, welcome to the Sheltie Nation from sunny Florida. You have landed in the right place for all things Sheltie, many people here with a vast knowledge about your beautiful little furbaby. Three words you will get to practice time and time again . . . patience, patience, patience. But believe me, it WILL be worth it. What you may not yet realize is that you have just recieved your best friend, your heart, your soul and your life long companion, your best and most loyal friend. As everyone has stated, we love pics. Can't wait to meet your Theo.
