I am getting my first sheltie tomorrow. She is amber and white. My only concern is our 13 1/2 yr old Shih Tzu. I am hoping she will take to the puppy ok. I am going to be raising the Sheltie to be a therapy dog and go to the hospital and/or nursing homes.
 
Welcome to the forum! I bet you can't wait for tomorrow...I know I couldn't...getting a new Sheltie baby...how exciting! Shelties make great Therapy Dogs...that is a great thing to do. :smile2:
 
Welcome to the Nation from another Floridian. Will look forward to seeing pictures of your new family member. Training to be a therapy dog is a wonderful thing and I'm sure your new baby will love all the attention. Keep us posted.
 
:lol: Mom and Dad have a Shizu that absolutely hates Sca. Sca is a overly friendly dog and is sure everyone is his buddy (people and dogs). Well every time he goes there he goes and checks and yep Bear still hates him. Of course Bear does not care for pretty much any dog just people. That said he almost likes Spitfire. I think it is Spitfire ignores him as something that is not fun and is smaller (Sca is a large Sheltie).

But your guys will work it out and I bet even be friends. Make sure the Shizu gets his space though as I think that is what Bear hates about Sca is that he goes over and noses him.
 
Welcomne! We have four Shelties, three of whom are or have been Therapy Dogs. May I recommend The Art of Raising a Puppy by the Monks of New Skete? We used it for all ours, and it's really amazing. You can get it on Amazon.
