Hi to everyone

Welcome Darlene and hooray for the family rescue of Dusty. Glad to have you aboard.

Have you heard about the this book:

"Dogged Pursuit
Meet Dusty, the world’s least likely agility dog".

This Dusty is also a sheltie that was rescued.

Welcome Darlene,Dusty and family. I have a sheltie,Baxter(6yrs old), I rescued this past August. I just love him, he's such a great dog. Sometimes I wonder what circumstances bring these guys to rescue. I also have another sheltie Fergus(2yrs old) that I bought from a breeder as a pup.

Dustys Age

Thank you all for the warm welcome, I took Dusty to my vet when we got him, she said he is probably 5 to 6yrs. old, he had to have his teeth cleaned because of the tartar buildup. He has not been neutered, at first we were going to have him done, but we were afraid it would make his dispostion different, maybe we were wrong but I dont think so, I wouldnt change him for anything. The reason he was to be put down was because he had been there for 10 days and no one had come to claim him and they couldnt hold any of the dogs for more than that, the lady at the pound said that he had been picked up by a couple that found him running down the middle of a busy street chasing cars.

We have no idea where he had come from, I do know he loves to ride in the car and go places. I had called that pound and talked to the lady who takes care of it and had told her if anyone came looking for him to let me know. We have never heard from her. We had never had a Sheltie before and believe me they are a different breed of dog. Dusty has really attached himself to my husband, he is so cute when you talk to him face to face it is like he is soaking up evereything you say to him and understands.

He did have a problem of pulling out his hair and making himself bleed, I took him to the vet but she couldnt find anything wrong except maybe stress causing it. I finally was reading about their coats and bought a supplement for skin and coats and now he doesnt do that. It has omega 3 oils in it, I give it to all the dogs.

Welcome to you and Dusty and your whole family!

Dusty is a lucky boy to have found you. Glad to hear that he has turned into a happy, well-adjusted dog despite his early beginnings.

Try Vibrant Pets (www.vibrantpets.net). I swear by it for skin and joint issues. It's amazing.

Hello and welcome,
I'm pretty new here as well. I'll tell you, these guys are great and you will feel right at home in no time!

Did anyone beg for pics yet??

I am happy you joined the Sheltie Forum. It is a great place. Caring, knowledgeable people. You are are right about shelties, they do understand.
Our, Mally cocks his head back and forth when we talk to him. If we tell him to go and get a certain toy, he will get that toy and bring it to you to throw.
I am so glad Dusty now has you and your wonderful family. What a fortunate dog. Again, welcome.
