Honesty Rx My Pet Prescription Discount Card

This is great info, thanks! My vet is always willing to call scripts into my pharmacy for me, but he's been reluctant to give me scripts to mail order from catalogs. They try to match the price, but if they can't, they make you come into the office for a written script. They won't mail it. This is a pain since my vet is 40 minutes away, and I usually end up just getting it there. With this though, I'll try my local CVS.
 
Good point Ann. I know a lot of times, people order it online from companies that may not be "reputable" because it's cheaper. I know that's one reason docs don't like to hand out scripts.

So, I would say, if your vet is wary...call up a pharmacy, as them their price of the med, ask them if they'd honor this discount card (remember, this is only used for human medications given to dogs). If they do, ask your vet to call in the script. It will make them feel better that you're not taking the script to some shady company.

I'm grateful that my vets give me scripts freely. If they didn't, I honestly would probably change vets. I understand their concerns, but it's too expensive to buy things from them. I can save up to $40 on my heartworm meds by going to Drs Fosters and Smith (who's a reputable company and not the cheapest either). If a vet won't give you a script, ask them why. See if they're willing to call it in instead. If not, and they're the greatest vet around, good luck then.

My vet called in Haley's prescription to my CVS. Just to give you an idea of savings.

At my vet's office, a 30 day supply for Urosodiol (300 mgs, #30 pills) was 178.00. At my CVS, the same Urosodiol 300 mgs, #30 pills was 72.00 and CVS asked me for my AAA card, which entitled me to a 7.00 discount. I saved over 100 dollars. After spending over 2800.00 at the vets since July, I welcomed the savings.

I was happy to see that the vet also added 4 refills. So if after the next round of blood tests, Haley still needs the meds, I'm grateful I can just refill at CVS without any hassles.

CVS is very good about honoring discount cards. When I got Ursodiol, I used a human discount card and saved big bucks as well. I uploaded from CouponMom website which carries several money savings coupons. Check them out. The expiration dates on the ones that I have are not until 2013 and once they put them into their computer it really is hassle free. They even give you the card back to save on other drugs.
