Did you ever find the cause? I was stunned to read your post with such a similar story to mine. I have a 4 year old female sheltie named Wynnie. She experienced an abcessed tooth in January. Due to a shortage of vets in the area, I had to wait two weeks to get her in for dental surgery. The emergency clinic gave her antibiotics in the meantime. Her poor snoot was swollen. Within the past 24 hours, she has intermittently lost all bladder control. Previously, she has become quite aggressive in the months after this abcessed tooth episode and attacking the other dogs in the family. She is superbly housetrained and obedient but her behavior has changed for the worse even after the surgery took place. I can't help but feel the delayed surgery, even with antibiotics in the interim, are the root of this bladder and strange aggression problem. I may be extraplolating too much here, but my great grandmother in her 90s had been hallucinating recently. She is the most intelligent and reality based person I'd ever met in my life. It turns out, in senior citizens, a UTI can cause hallucinations. I am stuck on the idea that in spite of surgery and antibiotics, this new bladder problem for my sheltie is related somehow to the delayed treatment of her abcessed molar. I slept/waited with my dog all night in the parking lot of the emergency ER vet in January just to get a diagnosis and antibiotics for her tooth and had to wait two weeks for surgery. I was lucky because I've been with the vet for 20 years as he was booked out for any kind of surgery 3 months out. Reading your post helped to confirm my suspicions.
