How far to walk?

Rambo is almost 10 months old.

How long do you all think he should be walked?

We went 1/2 mile today and he didn't seemed phased. It was enough for me though because he is still learning to walk nicely on lead.:rolleyes2:

As long as its not running on a hard surface it should be fine. A walk does them good! Helps to tire them out!! and a tired puppy is a good puppy! :) Of course as long as the road surface isnt that hot either...remember their pads of their feet will burn if its too hot!

You'll know when the dog is tired. They will start to lag and pant. I highly recommend you bring water with you on longer walks in the hot summer months, and try to keep them in shade if possible.

You can buy these great portable waterers for dogs that clip onto your belt or pants for about $6.00. They have a little tray that snaps out and you simply squeeze the water into it. When you close it up, the water bottle seals automatically.

I walk mine early in the morning here in Texas since the temperature tends to rise super quickly later in the day. You should definitely be able to tell when your pup gets tired (tongue hanging out, panting)! You could try walking him further bit by bit so you can gauge how long to walk him before he tires out. Riley loves his morning walk so he can unwind!
