How far would you go for a Sheltie gathering?

What other kind of things would you want there?

Would you rather go on a Saturday or Sunday?

If I could, I probably would stay within 100 miles of where I live (I'm assuming your taking about a play day?). If I had to choose between Saturday and Sunday, I would go on Saturday.

GAAH! Why did you have to ask that?! Now I want to go on a sheltie play day! I've never been on one. I know a couple of ladys here with shleties, maybe we can have a get together some time!:fl

I'm not really sure, the farthest I've driven was to Dallas, which was about a 4 hour drive. But I had someone with me so I was entertained. I think the max I could handle alone would be 8 hours. That doesn't get me very far being in Texas!

Not sure what to expect at a sheltie gathering, I honestly would probably enjoy just chitchatting with other sheltie people and watching the dogs play.

I would rather it be on a Saturday so I could drive up on Friday, and drive back on Sunday. Although I guess it doesn't really matter because either way I would have to take at least 1 day off work.

Yes, but would you do it with 4 dogs?:wink2: If I just had one or two dogs, then yes, I would go that far. But anymore would be a huge hassle!:uhoh:

I'd probably drive an hour or so each way....Saturday afternoons are best, but I wouldn't say no to a Sunday event that started in the morning but ran all day. (Sunday afternoons aren't convenient if one has to drive far and then work the next day.....)

I agree with the last post - probably most an hour away and back again. I might go further if I had a Sheltie friendly place to stay overnight, but the longest I like to keep my dogs in the car is 2 hours. But I'm a sucky Mom!

Well I went 21ish hours with 4 dogs.:wink2: I spent a week and visited friends and saw the ocean too. It was my vacation. Do I get a prize?:smile2:

Ok maybe I am crazy. 2 hours in the car, my dogs yawn at that. I go 1 hour one way to agility 1 day a week and 30 minutes 1 way 2x a week.

My parents live 9.5 hours away and I routinely pack up the car and take a road trip. Yes I do live in my car.

I did nationals which was 10 hours each way with 8 dogs :D
For a sheltie get together, probably 4 hours each way would be my limit. If you are talking about having one near you, I could probably make it, pending it wasn't on a trial weekend. You probably aren't much further than 4 hours from me. Saturday or Sunday doesn't matter to me. I'd be willing to share my trial schedule though if it helps :)

Now vacation is a different story. I went through TX, NM, AZ, UT, CO, OK, and back though TX on vacation with F-kap (before we were a multi dog family). I would definitely do that again with all the dogs, but I wouldn't want to go more than 100 miles on a day trip. To much trouble and not enough reward.:o
