I’m embarrassed but, Nap time, anyone?

I’m just gonna come right out and admit we put Mindy down for a nap everyday at four pm. I don’t mean we just send her to her crate (she would object). We put on lullabies, I rock her for a few minutes and then she goes in the crate willingly for about two hours of nap time with a night light and her lullaby music on in the laundry room.

it’s bizarre, I know!!! Never had a dog like her in my life, and I’ve had a few! Anyone else willing to admit the embarrassing things they do for their Sheltie?:)

I totally endorse the nap time regimen! I always put puppies in their pen at the same time each day for naps but without the night light and lullabies. That's pretty funny, but I'd do it if it worked!

We have drink time every night at bedtime. Several of mine have decided that fresh water from the faucet is a delicacy. So when we go upstairs for bed each night, Sprite, Ruffles and Checkers all line up at the bathroom doorway (I keep a water bowl in the hallway there) and wait for the FRESH water to be poured. I then have to hold the bowl for them, precisely at chin height, one at a time in order of seniority to Sprite's chagrin (Checkers, Ruffles, Sprite) while they each enjoy their drink. :drowning:

Sprite is the water monitor. If I forget, she marches into the bathroom, sniffs the water bowl, and rejects it if it isn't fresh and I haven't done my job. :sorry: She then stands in front of me and gives me the Sheltie Death Stare until I hop to it. I can almost see her tapping her paw.

I blame Checkers for teaching the younger ones the drink routine. I used to hold the bowl for her at night when she was pregnant. It became a routine for her that's trickled down. Pun intended! :rolleyes2:
