My wife and I work separate shifts. We have a 4 hour difference and the same days off. Being that she takes Jack out at 7 in the morning. She allows him to stretch out around the house while she gets ready. He has a new habit now. To jump on the bed while I am sleeping and lick and jump on me. My wife thinks it's hilarious. I don't exactly think so at that moment in time, but in retrospect it is pretty funny.

I am taking Jack to the local Dog Park tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday. If you happen to the live the Sioux City, Iowa area, let me know. Jack needs more Sheltie friends.

With Sheltie pups you get so much laughter and cheekyness it'll be huge eye opener so to speak :lol:

We do like pics of dog park visits, too :)

Jack is still a puppy and needs a schedule.

He will eventually learn your schedule and work with you Try bringing him for a walk or some workout to try and tire him out abit before either you or your wife settle in. Working opposite shifts does make it a little different . But he'll catch on.
 
If I forget to pull the bedroom door shut until it latches Kasey noses her way in to wake up my husband in the morning. He is not in favor of 30 pounds of furriness landing on his chest but I have to agree with your wife, its hilarious. :winkgrin:
 
All FOUR of mine have figured out how to open the bedroom door, which doesn't latch very well, and land on my husband for morning wakeup since I am always up first....it's the highlight of their day. And yes, it's a RIOT, your wife is right!! :lol::lol::lol:Even my hubby admits it...once they're all done bathing him.
 
AH yes, the joyous morning greeting....
Here we will have anywhere from one to three dogs in bed with us on any given night to begin with. Indy much prefers sleeping on his new orthopedic bed (yeah, finally found a bed that he will lie on!), Angus sleeps in his Xpen as he is still a dedicated chewer, Newton sleeps in his crate as he eats a meal at some point in the night (!)....sometimes Figaro wants in bed and othertimes he sleeps on the couch. Sasha DEFINITELY sleeps in our bed, Emma will start in the bed but sometime she migrates down to the floor.
OK, now you know the start point....I am the first person up each morning, and I let the dogs out....generally Angus, Figaro, and Emma rush to go out and Indy will go out too if I can get him awake. Newton comes out of his crate and goes to drink water and then gets in bed with Sasha and Alan. I have to use pretty strong requests to get Sasha and Newton go to outside; sometimes they just won't budge and I leave for work with them still in bed with Alan. If this happens, Alan bears the brunt of the whirling and barking when they hear my car start up in the basement. On weekends when I don't have to go anywhere, I leave the bedroom door open and eventually they come out and join the rest of the herd outside. Alan must then BEWARE because if he's still in bed when the herd comes back in for breakfast it is WILD JUMPING PANDEMONIUM time.
 
I've learned how to beat the Sheltie rush in the morning!

If I can manage to wake up BEFORE my alarm goes off, I can actually sneak into the bathroom and then sneak downstairs to grab my morning coffee before I get mobbed! And they even let me drink my coffee in peace. It's like they are thrown off the schedule.

However, if the radio alarm goes off, Indy is at immediate attention and waiting at the bedroom door. Bacca is in "ready" mode....any chance of sipping my coffee in peace is gone. My bed has become a wrestling mud-pit with the pups wrestling each other and then trying to wrestle me.

No chance of that here- Happy will wait until the alarm but Callie wants me up way before that. The time change has not helped there- she wants to get up even earlier now- well, it would have been almost normal time before the clocks but still too early for me. :wink2:
 
Well, I've got to agree with the rest of you--IT IS HILARIOUS!!! But things are a little bit different here. My husband wakes up before me and usually leaves Buddy in his crate until I get up, but if I need to get up early too, then he lets Buddy loose on me.

Then Buddy pounces on me and tries to lick me to death. I've told him to keep doing it. Somehow, it is just too much fun for me to get in a bad mood about getting up early. I really am a night person, and I can't think of any other way that waking up early puts me in a good mood.
