my little girl is so smart! She learned the commands for sit and down easily... this week she also worked on stay... that needs LOTS of work but she quickly picked up "paw" and "high five" cracks me up... she learns the fun things fast ... the important ones, she gets bored and literally just walks away from me!

Still working on the walking issue - I don't push because I don't want to traumatie her... but would really love to have her doing the couch 2 5K training with me instead of doing this: :hide

She'll come around -- remember, she's still a baby. A smart one, to be sure, but still a baby!

I am excited for you and your baby!! We will be starting with Bandit this next week, wanted to give him a week or two to acclimate and get the "normal" rules down before we started training. Thus far "normal" is don't potty in the house LOL so far so good a few accidents but getting better each day...we are starting to introduce No, and Down, etc. He is coming along, the manners lessons are starting up this next week so all in all progress.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Of course she's smart....she's a Sheltie!! Don't push the training too hard. They can shut down. Each dog is so different.

shelties are very smart and when Beau doesn't want to learn something he practices oppositional defiance, sheesh, you would think he's a human child. but, it is fun isn't it?

SHe graduates Tuesday from beginner training Tuesday ... and yes, its funny to see her "shut down" when she's done, she walks away... no matter how sternly I say "COME" ... ROFL... defiant little beast! We made headway this morning with "Quiet"... as long as the treats were forthcoming she did very well, then just laid on my feet (and, it's about 95 here with the humidity at god knows what level!!!).

Just booked her for a test run at a kennel Friday in preparation for my 1 week travel/bil birthday trip in a couple weeks. My home sitter had a conflict, my back up had a conflict so... this place has rave reviews, business for 30 years... Momma Bear is going to be a little nervous Friday...but it should be okay... :-) ...

What a smart girl she is! And they do act like little teenagers dont they? If Skyla doesnt agree with something she will grumble and bite at the air, little stinker! We are also working on 'quiet' but until hubby and I move into our own place, there's so much going on here in the house I dont always have treats (aka puppy food) on me to give her when she is quiet and "good girl!" doesnt always work, so the word 'quiet' is kind of hollow atm. She sits for her food, and knows the paw command. We'll have to work on high five  that sounds like a fun one! Is that with 2 paws or just the one?

ha!ha!, Beau does the same thing, practices oppositional defiance, unless of course I have a treat in hand
