I think Lucy ate a bee.

I think keeping benadryl in case like that is good idea. It won't hurt to take it right away if pups eats a bee, one pill won't be a problem even if one is not sure if bee was alive or not... speaking of which I should go and buy some...
 
I always keep benadryl on hand for such emergencies. The dose is 1 mg/lb. So a 25 lbs dog is 1 pill. The problem is oral benadryl takes some time to work so in cases like Lucy this afternoon if they are already showing signs of distress, the pill wouldn't work fast enough and they need an injection or strong meds.
 
Glad that she is OK and that its a simple treatment to help her be more comfortable.

Benadryl makes these quick dissolve strips which are 25mg, perfect for an average Sheltie. When Vinca got bit by a bee at the Sheltie Picnic right before she was going to take her TDI test, I gave her one. She did great. Then slept all afternoon :sleepy: I always keep them in my first aid kit.
 
Oh gosh so glad everything is ok.. good to know about the benydril strips, I am going to add that to my first aid kit
