ideal is like perfect...few fall into that...but mine have been unique, special, and incredible. I never have shown a sheltie, not my thing. I can appreciate those that do. I just want the companion type, and mine have all done very well in that category. I honestly didn't think Kaleigh would turn out that pretty. She didn't resemble her mom and dad much. They are dark sables and she is a tri, but now I look at her and think wow girl you did pretty well. Savannah I thought would be a great looking sable. She had the full collar, the cutest blaze, adorable ears, and nice tinting in her fur. Well she isn't near as striking as Kaleigh, she has almost hound dog ears, and the blaze grew sort of off center as her face elongated. She has a prominent racing stripe on her nose, a smaller face, with a pronounced forehead that I think looks goofy. . Not a beauty really, she isn't well proportioned. She didn't have the coyote phase like Kaleigh did. She furred up way more than her parents and sooner.
I think it is really interesting how they turn out. Some puppies that are striking don't really have that quality once they age, and some of the kinda scruffy ugly ducklings really do grow up stunning. My 2nd sheltie, was the runt, she took her time growing, her fur was gray cast and sparse. But at 2, she was amazingly pretty. She outshined her siblings and her parents in looks. Who knew?
