Pretty much every morning, well some, but I'll take it, Megan is actually affectionate with us! Some mornings she gets in bed with us and lays right next to us, basically spooning :lol:, it's so cute and so sweet. It is the only time she is affectionate, but hey, I'll take it! :biggrin2:

Ha ha, I know right...Megan is over 2 years old and just recently began this cute cuddly behavior! It's only in the morning though, the rest of the day pretty much hands off :rolleyes2:.
 
I sure wish Aonghus would get the "affectionate memo," he is 3 and the only time he is even remotely affectionate is in the morning when I wake up, and that is only for a couple of seconds! Maybe someday . . .
 
At 18 months, Shadow is "Mr. Aloof." When we come home he doesn't even get up to greet us, although we do get a look like "Oh, it's you again!", and he never, ever wags or prances around us like our other SHelties did. But he does follow me around, even lies down by the toilet when I use it (does anyone else think that's weird?:rolleyes2:) I am heartened by the posts that give me hope for more affection as he ages!

Casey has always been the most affectionate pooch ever. He is attached to the hip. He thinks he is human. Casey is just our pet. He does not compete or show. Is it uncommon for this breed to be this way.?
 
Absolutely not. Liam is my velcro dog. All of my dogs have loved to be with us, even though they were pets.
 
One more thing about Shadow's aloofness:
When I commented to my husband that I wished he'd wag his tail at me once in awhile, he quoted a song title: "How Can I Miss You if You Won't Go Away?"!

It's true. I take him with me everywhere I go ...:lol:
 
Shelby is almost 2 and is also not overly affectionate. She rarely will sit with either of us and never asks to be held or petted, even though she enjoys them both (For a minute or two). She is gradually becoming more affectionate as she gets older. It took a long time before she wagged her tail, even now she is not a big tail wagger, and acts like we are disturbing her nap when we get home.

She is very independent and has no problems just being alone. The complete opposite of our previous sheltie.

When she was a puppy, she acted horrified when we tried to pet and cuddle and all the things you want to do with your puppy. I used to cry over it :o. She just recently decided a little affection isn't so bad!
