Is he grooming???

So Gizmo really likes to lick my husband's face when he is kind of scruffy. we figure he just likes the pickles on his tongue or something.:rolleyes2: well the last while its not just licking the scruff, its now if my husbands hair or face is kind of greasy, Gizmo licks it. i mean if my husband will let him, he will sit and lick my husbands hair for like 10-15 minutes straight, if not longer. tonight my husband was on his computer trying to apply for jobs (he is done with school in 2 weeks!!!!) and gizmo wouldnt leave him alone! he would just sit on the arm of the recliner and lick away at the side of my husbands head; his hair, forehead, cheek, ear, his eyelid and chin!!!:ick does anyone elses dog do this??? does he just like my husbands "taste" or is he trying to groom/clean him???
 
My Danny Boy does the same thing to his dad. He will lick his face then try to clean inside of his ears and sniff his hair and push it around to see if his scalp needs cleaning. Danny even holds him still with his paw. By the time he's done with him (Danny thinks he's all cleaned up) it time to hit the shower and wash off all that doggie saliva. They take such good care of these men don't they.
 
I'm not sure why they do it either but Greyson licks my boyfriend all the time, but rarely licks me. I've always assumed it is because I am much cleaner than him! :razz:
 
I've noticed BOTH my dogs doing this to my dad out of all people.. they don't do this to my husband. My corgi and sheltie (even my previous one) hopped all over him to lick his ears, face, chin, etc. Bizarre but interesting observation. :P
