Jake's back seems to itch

Thanks for the heads up Emmasmom about Summit.

Mark, I forgot to mention that we also had to change laundry detergent with Harper Lee as she had intense itching whenever I used standard laundry soap like Tide or the like, and she laid on the bed. Also dryer sheets like Bounce caused her intense irritation when she came in contact with blankets and sheets.

I made my house more green with Method cleaning products, and All Free and Clear laundry detergent. It worked for us and I hope that it might work for you.

I'm already on top of that score, I'm highly susceptible to detergent rash myself, so I use SA8 -- it's outrageously expensive, but it's not only best case for sensitive skin, it also gets things cleaner than anything else I've used.

In any case, Jake's itching has apparently subsided. I gave him a bath with oatmeal shampoo, and switched him from puppy to adult food -- it would've been nice to know which one was the solution, but I didn't really want to experiment on/with him. Neither measure was risky or expensive... If it recurs I'll start with a bath.

Thanks everyone for your input, I appreciate it! And I wanted to apologize again to those with sick dogs for posting in this forum, in hindsight General Health would've been a more appropriate place to post this thread... my heart goes out to all of you and your doggies.

Mark it is so nice that you were able to resolve your itching problems. It is so hard to watch them in scratching hell and feel so helpless.

As I said on the allergy forum, with Harper Lee it indeed was fleas. I took all steps necessary to rid her of them and I felt compelled to explain to everyone that it was not fish, nor allergy to detergent although I am still using Method as my choice of green product and I see that you are doing likewise with your household products. Method is not so pricey though.

Harper has been given Comfortis to round out all the baths and we have successfully de fleaed(is that a word? well it should be) our house. She will take another Comfortis next month and then I hope she will sail through the winter months.

My vet perscribed Gentaved Topical Spray 120ml. for my Sammy hot spots and it really works. You just give 2 sprays to each spot. We saw a difference the next day.
