Just do not understand... absolutely stumped!

So, I have always posted about how well Liam and Beau get along. Baron has never been all that enamored with Liam but in the past few weeks, he has been making progress, not growling and not showing teeth. Never in an aggressive manner but more in a get out of my space demeanor.

He has actually started to play with Liam. I am thrilled over it.

He is actually playing with Liam's toys. He never played with toys before Liam came.

What is becoming increasingly apparent to me is all the destruction in the house that I used to blame on Liam, was really Baron! I had crated Liam when I went out the other day for about an hour. Came back home to find one of my boots destroyed! Baron had shredded the top and ripped off a button.

Today I had to run an errand and again, crated Liam and then picked up my boots and shoes thinking I would be smart enough to not let Baron strike again. Came home to find Baron destroying the dog bed! It was in the middle of the floor with the stuffing pealed out and shredded on the floor!

WHY, WHY, WHY, has Baron become destructive! I am at a total loss on this. He is in the crate now as I am so furious with him. Any help or thoughts to curb this behavior would be appreciated!

He will no longer be left alone in the house. He will ALWAYS be crated now. He is NOT to be trusted!

Baron is 5 and has always been trustworthy in the house before and never destroyed anything!

Wow...so nice to see them getting along!
I'd say your doing the right thing crating him...perhaps like Liam he also needs a reminder.

Separation anxiety? Strange it would show up at 5. Anything unusual happened that might trigger it?

I have been racking my brain to try and figure his new behavior out!
I am just at a loss...

He had been prone to separation anxiety when I first got him. After 6 months with me he was fine.

agree- puppy comes into home, Baron gets less attention so reverts to previous anxious behavior.
whatever you did when he first came home might help now.....................

The breeder thought since he was pooping in the house when I left it was due to separation anxiety! Her recommendation was to crate him!

So, I guess the crate it is. Just seems weird since he is getting along so well with Liam now.

Is it possible Gloria that he's feeling jealous or maybe you need to spend more one on one time with him? As I recall you did some obedience with him awhile back...perhaps he's missing that kind of attention from you (Liam's been getting the lions share of late)?

Actually, that was my first inclination too, jealous! The funny part is, I have been giving him so much praise for being good to Liam. I find it so odd that since he sees Liam chewing on items that he has picked up that behavior. I have not been giving any of them the time they deserve as I have been working so much. The weather has not helped either! Once it warms up I can take Baron for a walk alone. He likes that attention. I just can not commit to obedience classes now as I am being called in to work more and more. Training at home with very limited space is hard too!

It also could be that he doesn't like Liam separated. After Sca died and Angus came there was a noticeable change in Spitfire. He is a bit more social now and a bit braver. Oh and now he gets to be senior dog for real not just in his mind LOL
