Licking Lotion

Our boy Rookie is a lotion fanatic! Perfume also. It can't be good for them with the chemicals and all that is in it, but I wondered if anybody else's furkids had this habit? Any idea of how to curtail it, or should we not worry?? I mean...he goes NUTS over it.

Oh, yes! Definitely! I have to closet myself in the bathroom if I'm going to put on lotion. Same with soap! When I come out of the shower, first they lick my legs, and then they lick the floor around the shower, and if they can manage, then they step INTO the shower and get the rest of the soap residue.

I don't think they actually get enough to do them any harm. And maybe it's helping with their doggie breath! :biggrin2:
 
Yep. Aztec ate a whole tub of Eucerin one time while I was sleeping. (How he licked the lid off I will never know)

I woke up to the container being completely licked clean! I immediately called my vet and she had me read the ingredient list. Nothing deadly was in it...which was good. But it did make him sick to his stomach.

We have to put all lotion up and out of reach...because he will eat lotion, perfume...etc.
 
Oh jeez! I thought I was the only one! Caliber goes bonkers over lotion! And even deodorant!! I lay in bed, an he sneaks in and starts licking my armpit!! Ewww...!! But it's funny to watch the aftermath...because it's actually antiperspirant...so his tongue gets all dry, and he starts to lick all funny!! Yet...he never learns!
 
I am the most popular person in the house when I put on hand lotion..or body lotion..or God forbid, Burt's Bees lip treatment! If you want to feel irresistible, use Burt's Bees around a Sheltie! :lol:

Omg! I was going to buy that a little while ago! And that is the EXACT reason why I did NOT buy it! I thought "If I buy this...Caliber will go crazy." So I put it back up on the shelf! Now I want to buy it just too see HOW crazy he goes over it! LOL
 
lol...I'll have to buy it just for the fun of it. Might be fun to put a little on somebody without them knowing it...and see what happens too! lol

Rookie gets so excited over lotion and perfume that he will try to put his nose/muzzle down your shirt, and it looks like he's nursing!!! Of course we stop hiim, but he still tries and tries...Yes, armpit licking too!! Eewwww!

Doesn't go over very well with company! hahaha...

Alfie is also a lotionholic :lol:.

He always knows when I use lotion and appears at my side right after I put it on - even a small amount.

I let him lick it once in a while - if my body can absorb it through the skin with no harm to me it shouldn't do him much harm either, right?.

My first sheltie - Gabby never did this, so I'm glad to know that Alfie is not alone with his addiction :yes:
