We lost our sheltie/papillon last night. She was only 6 years old. She couldn't poo and was constantly squatting to do so and 6 days later we started to see blood in her urine. The vets thought it was a urinary track infection and found that her bowels were full. Steroids, painkillers and antibiotics were given but no luck We put her down January 6th only 6 days after seeing the beginning of problems. She couldn't hold her pee and was piddling everywhere with blood. We gave the vet permission to look to see what was actually happening and It turns out that her bladder was shrunk to the size of a grape and had blood in the lining of her bladder...the very start of bladder cancer. We loved our sheltie, of course we all do.....and are going to give it a few days before we look at get another
