It's where Mario likes to do his business and that's great, normally the dogs can't get in there. But she is cat sized so squeezed through. I went out right away and retrieved her, she gave me a couple of quick kisses on the face and I knew. EWWWWWWWWW. SIGH, the 7th in a series of Shelties that just can't resist cat turds.

Very good socializing advise. I took Zulu for walks everywhere in my arms as soon as he came home. Let him hear and see his new world. He got lots of attention, touching, different voices, kids. I think it helped make him into a well adjusted dog he is today.

That's exactly what I did with Piper! While he's a crazy silly boy now he's also the most well adjusted dog (much of that I attribute to all the obedience classes we took al well).
I want to add that Finnie as a pup could care less about me...didn't want to be held, wouldn't cuddle...only wanted to be around Piper and cuddle with him. I honestly thought he'd never want to be around me! Fast forward to present time and at 2 years old he is my shadow. If I sit in a comfy chair he's in my lap (the minute he sees me get comfy he gets up from wherever he's laying lol) ...be careful what you wish for as they say lol...now I can't get away from him! Don't get me wrong, I love a cuddler but sometimes you just don't want to share the chair:ROFLMAO:.

Mine like to eat poop in the winter...poopsickles taste better I guess? Ewwww indeed but no rhyme or reason to some things these dogs do lol!

Wow, 5 steps backwards yesterday with pee accidents. We've had her loose for short, supervised periods in a single room, playing with her and her toys, and still it happened even with going outside every hour like clockwork. SIGH. I guess I was overly optimistic the first few days. She is back in her pen now more frequently to see if that helps. I know it will just take time and consistency. My retired vet came over to meet her yesterday, he brought his stethoscope and actually gave her an exam, he's so funny. Pronounced her perfect. Was impressed by her independence and confidence.

He gave me some good advice on socializing, told me to take her to the grocery store and just stand outside holding her, so she can see/hear cars going by, people walking around, shopping carts rolling and crashing together, etc.

The play date with the Dachshund puppy Hannah went very well! Wore them both out. They seemed to be a good match energy-wise. It was fun to watch. We're going to do it again at their house next week.

She loves her toys and really is quite into tugging. Will chase an 18 inch soft fleece braided rope like a kitten. Pretty funny.

Potty training takes time, Minnie at 6 months suddenly got it, no more accidents. It would have been 5 months if we had done things differently; trained her to go out the front door instead of down the hall to the back door. Looking back, that was definitely the problem

We had a milestone! Meadow met 8 Collies yesterday, one at a time! Our friend who does Collie rescue was OK with us coming by and being in his front courtyard. She started off pretty scared and hid behind my legs - first time I've seen her do this or be scared of anything, actually. But she got braver and braver, and by the 4th dog she started trying to engage them in play. she particularly liked a female Tri color. They are all very sweet senior dogs so it was a wonderful experience for her. We will try again in a week or so.
