Meet Miss Maddy - ADOPTED

She is so adorable. If I where closer I would love to adopt her. I have a thing for blues and tris. Strange that the second family must not have known about Shelties. When Smokie was younger he would jump at the boys while playing out side too.

Maddy was purchased from a breeder in Northern Florida by a couple in their mid 70's and they simply couldn't handle her. They rehomed her to a family with kids and when she started nipping and jumping on the children they left her outside most of the time. Poor thing was full of dirt and not well taken care of. So the first owners took her back and relinquished her to the Humane Society. They work closely with us so when we got the call I went over and picked her up. She has been spayed, inoculated, chipped and given a full physical and is ready to go to her forever home.

Poor misunderstood girl. Now that she's with the right people I know she'll find a wonderful forever home. I truly wish it could be with me!

Sunchaser/Judy, you know you want to keep her!!! I know, I know I'm not helping things, rescue is hard/heart work. Maddy will go to a great home..:wink2:

Judy,

I have a few friends in the Tampa area who are looking to get a dog in the near future. One has two kids (not sure if that would be the best situation - but the kids are well-behaved and older). One has a big fenced yard and a 5 year old (slow introduction). One is a widower with two dogs, but one is ailing badly. She is considering getting another because the two have never been apart and the one left will likely follow her mate to the Rainbow Bridge soon after - leaving her mom all alone.

Anyway, I took them all to the Mid Florida Sheltie rescue website and raved about my own Duncan. Of course, I fell in love myself. If I didn't already have two, I would be knocking on your door this Saturday! I wonder if she and Duncan would get along...

Best of luck with her, and I will be working on my friends (and husband *cough*) to see if they are really ready for Maddy.

Oh, and I've visited her Petfinder page once a day for weeks... I'm so in love.

I just talked to my husband... he wants to know how large she is. I think that's progress! I would also like to know to spread the news around my buddies.

I also forgot about a colleague who has had Shelties for 25+ years and had one cross the Bridge just a few years ago. His brother is still with her at 15 years old!

*gazes longingly*

i want her to find her forever home real soon as well so i am not tempted to drive 18 hours to Florida.
