Millie's ears question

One of millie's ear is leaning down and more to the side of her head recently. Usually the bottom of her ears are up right with the tips laying on the head. like this :

But now one ear is off to the side ( no not like a hound ear. Millie used to have hound ears when she was younger but its nothing like that.) It looks odd and unnatural. ITs only been like that for less than a week. I'm not quite sure why. Theres no ear tenderness, its not swollen, the ears look clean, shes not scratching them anymore than a normal dog does nor is she shaking her head like something wrong.

From what i can tell the down ear has an extra fold towards the base/back that the other ear doesnt which is making it go off to the side.... kinda weird..

You think this is permanent? It's not a big deal if it is, haha Were just trying to figure out whats going on with that ear. Dont think this warrants for a VET visit. ITs not serious and I'm sure our vet would tell us not to worry about it....

anyone have any Experience with an ear suddenly changing shape/look?
I know some shelties have one ear up and one ear down naturally but the reason I say this is weird is because her ears have been like the picture above for a few months now and Just this week one is is starting to look unbalanced/lazy and not like a hound ear..

Millie is 8 months old now.

any clue?

First of all, I love that picture!
I don't think there's anything wrong with Millie's ears. Sheltie ears can change. Layla began with tipped ears which went prick at about three-four months. At six years, they turned silver! :eek2:

You could try gluing with a brace, but unless you're going to show, there's really no reason. I'd recommend just enjoying her individuality!

Man, Millie is adorable and has really grown up !! No expert on ears here. Sally has really big ears, we never did anything with them bc we don't show, but they do seem to change along the way.

Well that picture is what her ears looked like 2 weeks ago ( which look normal to me) Nothing wrong in the picture!!! I know shelties have all kinds of ears.

However, I should take a picture of them now. Theres one ear thats lob sided / lazy all of a sudden. Was just wondering if 1 sheltie ear could change from one week to an other all of a sudden.

can't really comment on the ears, but, she's beautiful, I couldn't really tell but, is one eye blue and the other brown

If you haven't been taping or gluing, then the ears pretty much what they are going to be. They usually start to show their tendencies about 8 months and pretty much set by 12 months, as I recall.

You can't really start taping/gluing now, so at this point, you pretty much have to live with it! :smile2: But don't worry - we see Sheltie's with so many different ears....they are still Shelties!

My Bacca has true hound ears. Indy has semi-prick. But we have some on the forum prick ears that could probably signal UFO's! :hide
But the prick of their ear does not change that they are Shelties....the best breed ever!

@dblock

YEah one eye is blue like a husky and the other one is dark brown with a a blue spot on the lower right side. We get alot of comments about how cool her eyes look =).

@barb No we havent been taping and we wont either. Were happy with whatever her ears end up looking like. We were just thinking it was weird that millie's ears have been the same for the last few months and then all of a sudden overnight ( it feels like) one ear became Lazy. The ear in question does not look like a hound ear type ( which is what millie had as a young puppy). So we just thought it was weird her ear position changed over night... It doesnt look normal. I took an other look today and Seems like she has a mosquito bite where the ear is folding towards the base ( which never folded before at all). So We'll see if the ear pops back up after the bite swelling goes away.
