Mine vs. Yours

A few minutes ago I walked into the master bedroom and found our male sheltie, Robby, snoozing on my side of the bed - and fully comfortable on my pillow. I have often explained to him that it is OK to snooze on his Mom's side of the bed and on her pillow, but not on mine. How do I train for this? Help. Regards (with tongue in cheek), Will

The key is to make your side of the bed very uncomfortable. I toss and turn all night, so the dogs have learned to only sleep on my husband's side

Yup. I'd have to agree. Also, I'm not a light sleeper, so for the most part, I will shove Koji out of the way if need be. He doesn't seem to care.

Beau will run and jump on the bed in the morning, he will put his head on my pillow and the bring his paw up and down almost like he's saying,"Momma come get in bed with me. " I will usually gently guide him over to his side and then we snuggle.

Our three sleep on th floor (vetmat), in a dog bed or in Blue's crate - Yes. That's at night. Come morning Blue is sent onto the bed first = face wipes and paw taps. This is usually at 6 am. If that fails because he gets a big NO! then all three clamber up and proceed to stretch, scratch, lick and roll over till it gets too much and I (or MDW) get up and take them out for an accompained walk. Then back for breakfast (theirs) and they go back to sleep. Of course we are too wide awake then so........

SHELTIES ROOOL:gaah

Our shelties have never been interested in sleeping on the bed when we're in it because there are CATS up there, and they have 'pointy things' on their feet. So, I guess you need a cat or two

Good luck with teaching mine vs. yours. I find it comes down to either allowed on the bed or off the bed. And if they've ever been allowed on the bed, they're allowed on the bed forever.

Toby thinks that our bed is actually HIS bed. He just allows us the use of it. But any time we're not sleeping in it, he's sprawled lenght wise across the middle or curled up in a tight ball against one of our pillows.

Sadie sleeps at our feet every night. She's supposed to sleep on my side but that doesn't stop her from trying to sleep on DH's side EVERY night.

Ginny has her own bed too, but just about eveyr morning we wake up wiht her wrapped around one of our heads.

Haha this made me chuckle... our boy isn't picky, he sleeps on whichever side is unoccupied (assuming the bed is made and symmetrical lol)
