Minnie's curious behavior?

For a while now Minnie "digs" the area she wants to lie down on before she lies down in the spot she "dug". She started doing this way before her heat started, lol. Any thoughts?

All three of mine are diggers. Hence the love-seats are covered with those cheapie couch covers they sell at big lots and BB&B. The upholstery couldn't take it. Plus it helps with the dog hair. Two secs to whip em off if unexpected company shows up ;)

Yep, several of mine dig their spots before they lay down, whether it's the rug, the bed or a dog bed. It's a common doggie behavior. Their paws also have scent glands and the digging is an instinctive way to mark their sleeping place, believe it or not. In the wild, dogs would dig into the dirt to make themselves a place to lay that's safe and protected. It's also the reason some circle as they dig. Minnie is just channeling her inner wolf!

Ive never had a dog who does this but I've only had five in my life.
