Missing Sheltie Monty - Milpitas CA

Hello and thank you for posting about our lost Sheltie Monty on your message board. Here is a link to his updated lost poster with my direct contact information. We have been looking for him since Aug 26.

We have had no leads still. We updated his posters to say STILL LOST and are posting new ones again. We've posted in the schools, parks, dog parks, etc. Still checking the multiple shelters, craigslist, newspaper and other online sites, too. Contacted police, norcal sheltie rescue, vets, groomers, pet boarding, etc. We even drive around with a huge sign on our car but still no word at all. We've walked and biked our area over and over. We did the petamberalert for calling neighbors and pet business. We have not heard of any sightings so don't know which area to concentrate our search on. We are also posting on twitter and FB. We've had to identify 2 dogs that have been run over the past week. Neither of them was Monty so we are hoping he is still alive. And we've received so many crank calls and scam emails. The emails even have people sending pix which are just his lost poster pic cropped and placed over some other background. We've talked to so many people but still nobody we've talked to has seen him at all. Our area is full of people walking and biking and playing in the park but no sightings at all. They said they've seen the posters but not Monty. Can a sheltie survive out there for more than 2 weeks? So worried if he is out there on his own. At least if someone took him, he would have shelter/food. I just hope if someone took him that they are taking care of him and will return him to us.

Please if you can crosspost specially to those in the Milpitas, San Jose, Fremont, CA. Or even anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area in case someone took him and drove him out of our immediate area.

Thanks!
Leslie/Albert

Still Missing Sheltie Monty - Milpitas CA

Biked around the area again spreading his dog food around just in case he is still in the area. Talked to more people and again they said they've seen my posters but they have not seen Monty at all. We have his blanket outside our house with some dog food also but that has not worked.

Sending hugs your way. I cross-posted the poster on my FB for my NorCal friends (I'm in SoCal).

Hoping Monty comes home soon.

Thank you!
The more people who know the better our chances.

I just saw a post on a yahoo group about a lost Sheltie in PA that was caught 6 miles from home. So still hoping we can find Monty.

I would set a trap but have no idea where to put it as there have been no sightings.

Finding lost Shelties

You may have read this already. If not, it might help. It's under our Missing Shelties section on Finding Lost Shelties. There may be some small tip here that could help you find Monty.
http://www.sheltieforums.com/showthread.php?t=11690

Please don't give up hope. We know people who have found Shelties that have been lost for months, even years. There was a Sheltie near my home lost for two years that lived on his own and was eventually reunited with his family! Shelties are very resourceful and quickly go feral if they're lost and will sometimes hide from people, even their owners. Keep the faith! We'll keep praying for you and Monty.

yup, i have read that one before. lots of useful tips we have tried. we just really need to get a sighting to be able to do the other stuff. a neighbor said there might be firecrackers this weekend for some mexican holiday. maybe that will startle Monty enough to get him moving so that someone will finally spot him.

thanks for the words on encouragement.
