Olive’s crate is currently in our living room. At out old apartment that worked out well and aside from a little whining the first night she happily settled into it. Her crate is still in the living room (different layout though) at our new place but now she is barking (loudly) and whining for extended periods of time after we put her to bed and a little before we would normally get up (this started 4 days after we moved in). She is always taken out to go potty right before she is put in her crate so it shouldn’t be that. During the day close to nighttime she will hop off the couch and go lay down in her crate so she still feels safe there as far as we can tell- at least when I am in the living room. If I go to bed before DH, Olive will usually try to follow me and lay down under the end table.
I’m just wondering if she is making a fuss because during the move, her flexi crate was in our hotel room and close to us and she would prefer to sleep near her people. She has slept in the same room as us for 2-3 nights when we visited DH’s parents and this behavior didn’t occur, but this was also when we were still at our old apartment (which she seems to have preferred, possibly because there was less foot traffic). DH was originally opposed to her being in our room, but he is sick of her barking keeping him up. My idea is to keep her big crate where it is in the living room and put her flexi crate in our room to sleep.
Thoughts?
