Tomorrow morning will have been exactly one week since She left us. In reality, it has not really gotten any better. I MISS Her, still. My wonderful wife still misses Her.
My youngest daughter Caitlin, had a special connection with Her. We got Her for Caitlin, but She bonded to me.
Caitlin lives approximately 70 miles from us. Caitlin's friends bought her a Sheltie puppy for her, not knowing of LILy's passing. Their ultimate timing was not the best. They thought that the puppy would be a companion for Lily, instead of a replacement. Caitlin got her puppy on Monday when she got back to her other place.
Caitlin is having a hard time with the loss. Caitlin is in the process of changing jobs, so the presence of the puppy is causing stress on her along with the loss of Lily.
The puppy will be living with us, instead of Caitlin.
I had recommended that she not get a Sheltie for the fear that Caitlin's expectation for the puppy would be too much for Caitlin to deal with.
I was afraid that Caitlin would expect the puppy to be like Lily, therefore not allowing the puppy to develop its own personality.
The new puppy is a true tri-color. Caitlin named him GusGus, he is pedigreed, and he is of course a male. I will be extremely careful with him and allow him to grow into his own, yet apply the lessons from Lily to him, after all She taught us so much.
I will take Gus Gus to the veterinarian, next week to get him started off correctly. I will deal with his intestinal parasites and everything necessary to get him a fair start off in this life. Caitlin says that he is scratching some, so I will assure that he has no fleas, or other critters that could cause him any harm. I will assure him that he will have the best shot in having a good chance at an uneventful, healthy life, as best as I can. I think that is what Lily would do.
After all, I atleast owe Her that, after all that She was to Me. All the things that Lily taught me will make all living things that I encounter will be treated differently, and respectfully.
Thank you for all of your kind and supportive words for me during these trying times.
