My wonderful Lily is gone

I am so sorry to hear of Lily's passing. So hard to lose a loved one, but I am glad that she did not suffer at all.

While I am consoled by all of the caring and compassionate posts here, there are private times that questions about Her that come up, that I am having a difficult time answering to myself, for Her. Even tho she passed in her sleep, how do I know, that She did not suffer. Did She awaken from Her sleep, not being able to breathe, and suffocate unmercifully, which I did not help her with. The very Idea of me not being there when She needed me is NOT acceptable by me, after all the things that She was for US. Her dedication and stedfastness was unquestionable. If there ever was a certainty in this world, it was LILY. She never failed to be there for US,no matter what. Everything that SHE did for US was done with compassion. HER love for US was always evident in everything SHE did.
As you can tell, I am having a difficult time with these thoughts, this morning. I do not have these as often as I did at first, but on occasion, they come back on me.
I am usually occupied by Gus Gus, but he is asleep at my feet, now, leaving me with time alone with my thoughts.
I guess, that I am never alone. Lily is always with me. While these times are difficult, they are also a comfort, understanding that She is still with me.
As we allow Gus Gus to grow into he is to be, there are times that my wife points out certain behaviors that he does that is just like Lily. I do not know if it is pure rejection of the idea that anything could be like Lily, or if it is just a Sheltie trait that they both exhibited. However,I fully intend to let the pup be his own entity, and not a Lily Clone. I think that he will bring his own characteristics to the table over time. some will be like Lily, but, there will be those that are pure Gus Gus.
There are times that I get emotional and teary eyed when the topic of the conversation turns to Lily. When a 65 year old macho type person, elicits a handkerchief or a Kleenex from other professionals, one knows just how we become attached to our friends or loved ones. To me, Lily was a Loved One.

Anymore, there are no individuals that my views of them, are swayed by other's opinion. I cannot and do not allow myself to react to their feelings. Everyone is entitled to their feelings. It is what action that they take that initiates a response from me.
Thank you for the sweet, kind words

I am so sorry for you loss and I am so sorry that you're struggling.

When I lost my first sheltie, we weren't home. We were away on vacation and did not know until after we came home. I was devastated that I was not home to say goodbye and comfort her to the very end. It ate me up. This was 10 years ago and I still get emotional whenever I think about it. It is tough when you lose your pet that way, but I like to think that my dog knew it was her time and chose to spare me the pain of seeing her pass on.

I'm glad you have Gus Gus to comfort you. :hugs Hugs to you.

take4roll10,
I see that you are a Moderator here.
That means something to us normal posters, and I thank you for your compassionate comments. On Feb 25. I responded to your post on the 24th. I did not copy my writings to a text document because I did not think that any kind of censoring would be going on here.
I always preview my postings with the attempt to correct grammatical or spelling errors. However, that posting has never shown up on this board.
Today is Feb 28th, more than enough time for it to be checked over by the censors here, or those who decide if a posting is appropriate for display here.
Today, I am copying this post into a text document for documentation sake.
I have found this forum to be beneficial in many ways, but, if my postings are offensive I would atleast expect a "heads up", instead of just not bothering to post my writings.

Because we want to have the best possible community, the Sheltie Forum moderators are vigilant against spammers. When a new user signs up, his or her posts require moderator approval before they appear. The number of posts that a user needs to make before "full membership" is randomly-generated, and for most users (including you!) the posts are appropriate and all we need to do is hit "approve".

I am very sorry that one of your posts did not appear. As a moderator, I would be able to see any "hidden" posts that were not approved, or were deleted. I cannot see any such posts in this thread. Is it possible that there was a glitch on your computer (eg. closed the browser unintentionally)?

Unfortunately, there have been situations where users (particularly brand-new ones) use the Forums inappropriately or unkindly. This has led to the new-user moderation system. I am sorry to hear that you feel that you are being censored; as I mentioned above, none of your posts have been disapproved.

If you have any questions, please PM one of the moderators, or Kelly, the Forum admin.

tofu pup ,
It is ironic to me that you chose this set of postings to add to something that was not addressed to you. But you have the right to do and say what you like, and I appreciate that.
I too am taking the advantage of my right to respond to you in the venue that you chose.
Since I do not have any questions about this, I am posting it here in finality.
You mention brand new users, according to this forum, I joined in June 2010, I would not classify my presence as a brand new user, since i have almost been here 5 years. After all these years, I have not posted much, making it easy to see if my postings ever needed anyone's approval.
You and I must agree to disagree. I came on here and directed something directly to another poster, and you come in here addressing something that is of controversial nature. I claim to have posted a thank you to someone for their compassion, and then, you say things that I expected from an entity that condones censorship. I most certainly DID post a thank you to that moderator. You say that you can find no such posting, so you think that there is a problem with my browser. If my browser closes, so does this forum.
I think that I would know if my browser had closed.
After all, you did not even try to indicate that there was technological problems with this forum. Since there is no such indication, it had to be due to human activity that prevented that post from showing up. That is called censorship, in my view.
I will not allow you more than two opportunities to censor me. The first time and this posting may be censored. I will not be posting here any more.
Please feel free to delete my account from this data base, as I no longer will be using it.

Hi LilyPop,

Moderators will jump into threads to provide information or clarification. That is why you heard from the moderator, Tofu Pup who wasn't directly talking to you up until that point.

You may have posted a response that you think was censored, but we do not do such things unless it violates the rules. I suspect what happened here is that your browser may have timed out between you writing your response and the time you clicked the submit button. The browser does not need to close for this to happen.

I've had instances where that has happened to myself and it is a limitation of the software/browser compatibility. The only way to ensure your text is not lost is if you copy the text elsewhere as a precaution before clicking the submit button. (If you do not click "remember me" when logging in, it also can cause problems depending upon your browser.)

You are assuming it was human intervention and I can assure you it is 100% not the case. I run the forums and can see all activity by members and the moderators, even if something was already deleted.

We do not delete member accounts. If you choose not to participate that is your choice, but your account and posts will remain, although inactive. Please see the rules for more information or feel free to PM me or one of the moderators with any questions.
