Natural Balance Merges with Del Monte...not so good?

Not sure if anyone here feeds Natural Balance, but I do and I thought you would like to know they are merging with Del Monte which I think is a bad move for them and now I will have to find something else quick to feed my Westie because he's been on the L.I.D. Bison and Sweet potato due to issues with IBD, 2 HGE attacks and food allergies. I am crossing my fingers I can find something else with limited ingredients because I don't want his issues to become worse. Just thought I would give others who feed Natural Balance a heads up.

After reading your post about Del Monte and Natural Balance, I did a quick Google search and was surprised that there wasn't a great deal about the merger (which actually looks more like a buyout), except for the normal press release kind of stuff.

For those of us that don't know much about Natural Balance or Del Monte, what is it specifically that has you concerned about the merger? The results of the Google search uncovered a ton of (what looked like a ton to me) recalls for Natural Balance products, but not nearly as many recalls of Del Monte products. Is your concern about possible product quality, or is there some other issue?
 
I know it is a buy out Natural Balance is calling it a merger. Yes I am concerned with the quality of food now that Del Monte owns them. Del Monte owns Milo's Kitchen products and they are known for their recalls and the fact they sorce from china. I'm not looking for anyone to try to explain the merger I am just trying to let other ppl who feed NB know. They posted a video on their Facebook page today talking about the "merger". I already know that I'm switching to a new food b/c whenever a larger company buys out a smaller pet food company it always reduces quality in ingredients case and point Iams.
 
Thanks for the heads up. I use the canned food L.I.D fish and sweet potato as a supplement to Meadow and Reno's regular kibble. I'm really disappointed to hear this as they really enjoyed it and I liked it because of it's limited ingredients. Will be researching another L.I.D. product to buy.
 
I don't know much about Del Monte's products, but I know how you feel. I used to feed my dog California Natural, but switched after they were sold to P&G.

Is Bison the only type of protein your dog can eat?
 
Bison is the only protein he seems good with because we have gone through, duck, chicken, lamb and he will not touch anything with any type of fish or seafood in it. I feed my Sheltie Fromm which has some really great grain free options, but I need something with limited ingredients because I need to limit what goes in him.
 
You might look at Nature's Variety. The boys have done really well on it. They have several lines including kibble & RAW.
 
I was looking at Taste of the Wild, but then read about the recalls with Diamond and now I'm still looking...:gaah
