natural flea protection?

I've heard of people putting brewers yeast and garlic on their dog food to repel biting insects like fleas, ticks, flies and mosquitoes. I haven't tried it myself.

There's nothing else that I know of in Canada that's useful, although I had a sheltie forum friend send me this the summer before last.

I found that it worked great for everything but ticks and the smell, while pleasant to me, really bothered Sadie.

This summer I'm going to try brewers yeast and garlic and see how it goes.

I've used both. The brewer's yeast and garlic helped a little, but it's not enough on its own at all.
The sergeantsnatural I found stained their ruff yellow for months to come, so I stopped using that. Now I use the Critter Oil and am looking into the CedarCide (which also makes a human product to keep bugs off :smile2: )

I'm getting ready to try the DE myself for fleas... In addition to qs and a puppy, we brought fleas home from the agility trial. I swear, there were dogs scratching all over the place at the trial!
