Need suggestion on barking in crate

I adopted my 6 month, Jasper 2weeks ago and need some suggestions on training. He does well in the crate when it is bed time or when i leave but when i am home it is a different matter.

I put him in the crate when my friend comes over and we exercise twice a week together. Currently the crate is in the same room as the room we exercise in. I gave him a kong and he is quiet till that is gone. then he barks and barks. I was using the No bark and then ignoring him by turning my back and then i would say good boy and give him a treat when he was quiet. but the other person seems to want to tell him no and no again and again. I asked h er to just ignore him. she didn't. Do i keep saying no bark and allow her to say no bark also. Or do i more my exercise stuff to the other room where Jasper can't see me. Or do i move exercising down stairs where he can't see me or hear me. Or do i stay in the room and ignore him.

He is in the crate during exercise because he gets pretty excited and wants to play with us.

how should i handle the situation.

Well, I certainly wouldn't allow the friend to keep telling him no. He needs to be taking commands from you and listening to you, she is going to confuse the situation. I personally think I would move his crate to another room and see if that helps just because your friend is insistant on giving him commands. If it was just you, I would say yeah, just ignore him and he will be quiet. But I'm sure that there are some better suggestions that will be posted.
 
Put the crate into another room. You're never going to get anywhere with your dogs training by getting it worked up in its crate while you're exercising. I also think your dog should only be taking commands from you, but its also not really fair for your friend to be in a room with a dog that is constantly barking, that would drive me crazy.
 
Jasper wants to be exercising with you, Julie, I'd bet that's why he's barking! What you're doing looks like great puppy fun. :yes: Definitely put the crate in another room where he can't see or hear you. He may bark for a bit but if you leave him alone he'll give up and settle down. :wink2:
 
Update:

My friend and I exercised downstairs --Jasper couldn't see me or hear me.
He was fine. He barked about 10 seconds ( 5 barks) about 15 minutes into the exercising. afterward the exercising i let Jasper out and he played with my friend and everything was fine.

Jasper seems to be adjusting to living with me pretty well. this week is so much better than the first week. two nights ago he even let me know he needed to go outside for a potty trip. I was so happy and praised him so much. So I am adjusting to the new puppy also. I forgot what a puppy is like after having a 11 year old cocker.

I was playing kick the volley ball around the yard last night. he was so funny to watch...we both were tired after the game of herding the ball. I need the exercise so that is good.
