Need to choose a photo

I doubt it's copyright infringement as you weren't claiming that they were your pix.....

if viewing watermarked pix on the web is copyright infringement, then there wouldn't be any photo sites to look at anybody's pix......

what happened with Precious where someone else was using her pix on their site without credit- that's copyright infringement.............

I doubt it too, but I didn't feel like fighting it.

I don't want to drag out the copyright argument here, but as a somewhat serious photographer with many copyrighted images, I can tell you that this statement is not accurate. There have been a number of changes in the scope and process of how to copyright intellectual properties and how they can be used, but I can tell you that if you are posting copyrighted images on these pages w/o the permission of the owner, you are violating the law (with a very few exceptions). As far as what's been posted in this thread (if I were the owner of the images), I would have gladly approved their posting if I were asked. I'm not suggesting that anyone change what you have been doing here, only that you should be aware that the tenor of the conversation here re the legality of printing the images is incorrect.

so viewing links to pix online is copyright infringement?

she's not talking about just printing someone else's pix- she wanted to know which one she should BUY................... to hang in her home....

I understand that she isn't trying to do anything wrong or shortchange the owner of the photos. For that reason, I hesitated to comment at all. It just seemed that the conversation was starting to go too far from the actual legality of copyright infringement. The short answer is that WHY you use someone's copyrighted image or WHAT you are trying to do with it doesn't matter, it's use is probably going to be illegal (with, as I said a very few exceptions) absent permission from the owner. Quite frankly, what we have going in our favor here (in a way) is that there are likely no damages (legal damages) incurred with images posted here. As a result, it wouldn't be worth anything to go after one of us. The bigger portion of a copyright infringement case is the element of damages.

It is no surprise that the SN TOS specifically tells us not to post copyrighted material w/o specific permission of the copyright owner. Someone is well aware of the potential problems (even though the problems are unlikely to occur here). To Tabith's credit, she clearly indicated that she was linking to a collage of images, but I don't remember anything on the linked page that specifically indicated that the images were owned by whomever. As such, my interpretation is that the rules of copyright protections were still breached.

I ended up purchasing #2 (tire jump shot) and #5 (silly happy weave shot).

When I receive them and put it up on my wall, I'll be sure to post a photo!

Those are my favorites too. Can't wait to see how it looks, hopefully one day I'll have agility pictures and ribbons to hang up too.

thank you
I look forward to seeing the pics, as I missed the ones you did post and all.......
